Loud 'crack' before song plays
From how you describe the noise, I think I’ve had similar occurrences with certain digital combinations.    Next time you listen try and note if the bit depth or bit rate are changing between songs. If so, the noise might be the Node and Emotiva ...
Manly Stingray....Opinions from any owners?
Poke,  I can’t speak for the Stringray, but I had a pair of Neoclassic 250s once upon a time. They were around 10 years old, maybe a little older, if I remember correctly. I was the second owner. Truly a great product with great customer service...
Yep much to do about nothing. Fear brains.
@mapman  i usually don’t involve myself in internet arguments these days. It’s wasted energy with little reward.    I work in healthcare and have to see the impact of this shortage on parents  everyday right now.. The dismissal of it as no big d...

@nonoise  That article proves my point. No one is sympathizing with Abbott, they are equally at fault. The FDA was told about the issue back in September. They did nothing.  They waited until four infants died before panic-acting and shutting th...

@nonoise  You are so disingenuous and your response completely proves my point. You immediately made it democrat versus republican. Hysterical!  Trump isn't in office anymore; get over it. He left 17 months ago. The current president and his adm...

@ghasley  The federal government becomes responsible for baby formula when it directly gets involved in the purchasing, manufacturing, and import-limiting of the product.  You can't take a significant amount of control and oversight over a produ...

What I find sad and pathetic are people that are so married to their politics that they dismiss the very evident reality that right now infants in this country are at risk of starvation, malnutrition, and death because of the shortage.   These sa...
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
Unless you have tried a .8 amplifier in your system I wouldn't dismiss it. Different speakers, room, positioning, ancillary equipment, etc. impact a system's sound. Also, IME, different amps in the same series sound different in the Pass lineup.
Why Do You Post?
Most of my time is spent working or with my family. The little time I get for a hobby has been dedicated to audio for over a decade now. I am a music lover at heart.  I have made many mistakes, made poor purchases, wasted money; you know, the wel...
Boutique or Big Brand?
I came in to the hobby in the late 2000s and was heavily invested in boutique brands. They seemed to offer more performance for the same or less money. While this may or may not be true subjectively, boutique brands come with what I now consider ...
OCD audio guy naming shady Audiogon dealers by name
Say what you want about the gentleman in the video, but that place is awesome!  There isn't anything even remotely close to that around where I live. I tend to have to buy  online without being able to hear the products first. It would be awesome...
I heard a costly system from Esoteric.
The other consideration, which may have been addressed and I missed it, is the tone controls.  Were they activated? Its possible they were accidentally left on and were impacting the sound.  Either way, regardless of cost, this is why it's impor...
Dodd PreAmp batteries not charging
Jek,  Try reaching out to Danny at GR Research. Gary Dodd was a personal friend of Danny. He may be able to give you some direction on how to fix your problem.
GIK Vicoustic and others
I too have been starting to research acoustic treatments for my room.  I am a little apprehensive about GIK right now. If you search online they seem to be having pandemic related issues with delivery and quality.  Might want to check out some o...
I'm confused - Different music...different speakers?
Did anyone mention speaker positioning/room acoustics?    A lack of “slam” may be related to a dip in response around those frequencies. Plenty of financially reasonable methods to measure what you are hearing.
