Class D Technology Speakers shift phase much more (in opposite direction) at higher frequencies. Imaging should be OK as long as phase in both channels match (no reason not to). As for the switching noise - I cannot hear 500kHz, but I'm pretty sure some people her...
Analog output for hifi tls49, My daughter's Panasonic does not have menu selection. None of Panasonics in ABT Electronics store had it. Same for LG. We checked manuals with specialist in the back of the store. This problem with Panasonics was mentioned in many threa...
Analog output for hifi Plain DAC might not work since many TVs, includingPanasonics, output Dolby. By default they output Dolby with ATSC and PCM with NTSC. They don't have menu selection. For that reason I got Samsung. Check, if your TV has Dolby/PCM menu selection.
Interconnects, some have directional indicators, why? Jim, electromagnetic field would be contained in conduit or even braid. Very often explanation of Poynting Field brings example of coaxial cable, showing that whole energy flows thru dielectric between the wire and the shield. As for Boulder 306...
Interconnects, some have directional indicators, why? Current in the wire is a flow of electric charge. Wire creates magnetic field but transports charges and not the energy. Energy is transferred thru magnetic field from the source to the load. The load has some voltage drop in it, hence electric fi...
directional cables? Current does not flow - current IS. Same as current in the river is a flow of water (current does not flow - water flows) current in the wire is a flow of electric charge. Wire creates electromagnetic field but transports charges and not the ene...
Resale value I also buy to own and prefer new, but in case of my speakers (6 month old dealer demo for 60%) the closest dealer to Chicago was in Pennsylvania. Traveling there would cost me probably the difference between 60% and typical resale of 50%, and I w...
Interconnects, some have directional indicators, why? Kalali, you can do that, but good electrons, that you paid for, might leave the cable, being replaced by just plain cheap electrons.
Interconnects, some have directional indicators, why? Arrows on all other kinds of cables -- XLR, speaker, power, and data -- are utterly meaningless from an electrical standpoint, since audio signals (and wall voltage) are alternating current and interact with conductors the same way in either dir...
Class D Technology That's general idea, but simple it is not. None of current class D amp modulators uses triangle waves. If anything it is more sinewave and closely resembles modulator use in Delta-Sigma converters, that produce similar output. SACD is also a pro...

muralman1 - where are you? Sadly, it appears that Vince Bezdecheck (muralman1) passed away in 2012. RIP Vince.
Entry Level Interconnect Reccomendations When Audioquest moved production to China and lowered prices to stay competitive they also changed cable names - Python (that had great reviews) became King Cobra, while Viper became Diamondback. I had Viper (diamondback) and King Cobra. Both ar...

Class D Technology Here is part of Lamm Industries ML3 Signature amplifier by Michael Fremer in 9/2013 Stereophile. The ML3s produced the most glorious, palpable, airy, detailed midrange I’ve ever heard from reproduced music. That part is easy. They pushed that perfo... |
