Can someone give me an explaination re: power amp.
Your w-3 amp has 0.02% THD at 1W. At a fraction of a watt it might have 0.1% - still not audible while amp with 0.05% THD at 1W might have 0.25% THD at the same fraction of a watt and it might become audible.

Blazerfan - Twice softer means 1/10 of the power. Four times softer means 1/100 of the power. At low sound levels power might be in fraction of a watt. Amplifiers' distortions, damping factor, bandwidth etc. are measured at relatively high level. ...
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
CB723 - My Vacuum Cleaner IS very low pressure cleaner. Hope it helps.
Can someone give me an explaination re: power amp.
Blazerfan - I looked it up and it is very interesting amp. Very low distortion and high damping factor in an amp with very little feedback - It can be done! (I assume that Simaudio W-3 is the same as Simaudio Moon W-3)
Can someone give me an explaination re: power amp.
Bob - I also cannot see connection between high current and low level performance. In each case (including my small class D amp) it is most likely related to particular amp design.Blazerfan - My whole system consists of DAC with volume control and...
Question about power surge protection
I use Furman Elite 20PFi conditioner and leave system on all the time. It has positive effect on the sound and very good protection. It uses multistage non-sacrificial protection with circuit breaker. In addition it has separate filters for differ...

Blazerfan - You posted your question twice so I'm posting here as well (just in case):There is nothing wrong with Paradigm Studio/60. I had the same speakers v.2 It performed decent with integrated Cambridge amp but got much better at low volume w...

Blazerfan - There is nothing wrong with Paradigm Studio/60. I had the same speakers v.2 It performed decent with integrated Cambridge amp but got much better at low volume with class D Icepower amp (Rowland 102). I found later review where they me...
Importance Of Power Supply : Transformer Ratings
Ryder - power supply capacitors are recharged in very short current spikes of high amplitude. High frequency of these spikes heats-up the core of transformer while rms value heats up the copper (windings). This rms value, because of shape, is much...
Booming Tunes
Lewhite - very good question. I ended up with full range speakers but considered monitors and sub. Not only room has often nodes but designers of monitors tune bass reflex to stretch lows creating hump on first multiple of reflex frequency - usual...
Thinking About a New CD Player
Buconero117 - Oppo 83se costs $900 while Benchmark DAC1 costs $995. What excuse to spend more you're talking about?
Thinking About a New CD Player
Bob - you won't get 24 bits. It is called 24-bit but real resolution is most likely below 20-bits. Traditional (ladder type) converters don't get any higher than 18-bits because of component tolerances while sigma-delta variety won't get higher be...
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
"Which part didn't you like, the Viagra or the sex?"I don't remember having sex (very common at my age) but If I had I'm sure I liked it - I think.
Cable Costs Relative to System
Gherrea1 - I ended up 18.6% Now I have to upgrade equipment to bring ratio down to recommended 10% (at least that's what I'm going to tell my wife)
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
Mrtennis - Absolutely agree. It became academic discussion with a lot of words (193 posts, most few pages long) and no use to anybody.
