An audiophile dilemma
Chris,My brother auditioned speakers in Swiss (Geneva) audio store. Sales guy presented smaller speakers first and my brother liked them a lot. Then he switched to more expensive larger speakers and my brother liked them even more to finally play ...
Impedance Mismatch ???
Larryi, that might be the case but when he designs whole amp (instead of using Icepower modules) most likely he has option of setting 10k or 40k input impedance without extra stage. It might be electrical noise issue since higher impedance input i...
Impedance Mismatch ???
Strangely, Jeff Rowland increased ICEpower module input impedance from 10k to 40k by adding extra amplifier board on my model 102 amplifier but released brand new all his design model 625 that has only 10k input impedance. Does he know something w...
Please help with Spectron Musician Issue.
Rhanson739, I like your approach. I tend to over-analyze while at the end it comes to sound quality alone.
Another cheater plug thread
Newbee, Interconnects make connections between signal grounds that most likely aren't chassis grounds.
Please help with Spectron Musician Issue.
Mcintech, It is not that difficult to fix it if you understand its operation. It is pretty much modulator chip + output Mosfets. If Mosfets are not driven then replace chip otherwise find bad Mosfet. I'm not sure why "it doesn't follow ohm's law" ...
Taming edge from remastered CDs?
Ivan_nosnibor, Pretty much everything affects jitter. Power conditioning is very important to avoid system noise induced jitter, but it won't help in reduction of the jitter already present in digital signal coming from the transport. Clean power ...
Please help with Spectron Musician Issue.
Rob, I considered Spectron Musician as an upgrade to my class D Rowland 102 - not anymore. Rowland wouldn't do that to me. It is possible that with different speakers (complex load) it behaves differently but no matter what - when they cannot find...
New CD´s with errors, acording to dBpoweramp
Sometimes they have slightly weaker reflection. Try cleaning your laser lens.
Fuses that matter.
Al, I agree - It doesn't make any sens. 5A slow fuse (3AG Littelfuse) has about 0.02 ohm.Let assume that another fuse is 0.01 ohm - twice better (hard to believe). The difference of 0.01 ohm is equivalent to about 3 feet of gauge 12 (1.6mohm/ft) h...
Panasonic VT50
Brianpack, We checked, with ABT store Audio/Visual specialist, Panasonic's manuals and we found that it outputs only 5.1 Dolby with digital broadcast. We also checked the menu structure for output format setting and we found none. Perhaps Panasoni...
Panasonic VT50
What I don't like about Panasonic TV is that digital audio output is automatically set to 2 channel with NTSC (no longer broadcasted) and 5.1 Dolby with HDTV. My DAC does not work with 5.1 Dolby and there is no way to change it on Panasonic TV (no...
The Night Air
AM stations have to reduce power at night per FCC regulationshttp://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/why-am-radio-stations-must-reduce-power-change-operations-or-cease-broadcasting-nightI've noticed, listening to AM station, that at about 6PM signal rapid...
What value cap to bypass power supply cap?
I'm not sure why you need sequence of capacitors. It would make sense if you got fast and slower caps but your proposed caps vary only by value. I'm not even sure you need any caps. My vote, as I proposed before is just one cap of 1uF at the ampli...
What value cap to bypass power supply cap?
Dave, thanks again. I found nice drawing that shows how rectifier diode behavior introduces EMI:http://www.powerint.com/en/community/papers-circuit-ideas-puzzlers/circuit-ideas/careful-rectifier-diode-choice-simplifies-and-Also notice at the "VDC ...
