NOS DAC's without any digital filtering? The fact that R2R DAC is used in non-oversampling mode doesn't mean that it has to be redbook (16/44.1) only. You can simply feed it with 192kHz and it will update output at 192kHz. No filtering or interpolation.
Class D Amps Cable matter?? Mlapenta - my cables, Acoustic Zen Satori, were criticized for "full" lower midrange. It is perfect with my class D amp Rowland model 102 since it sounded lean with AQ cables. Now chestiness came back to male voices, cellos sound deeper etc.
Class D Amps Cable matter?? There is a small (about 1 percent) amount of the switching noise on the speaker cables. It can couple to anything else by capacitive or electromagnetic coupling. Capacitive you can reduce by keeping cables away or crossing cables at 90 degrees. El...
Custom Bridge Rectifier on a preamp power supply Atmasphere, not only power transformer but also inductance of electrolytic caps. There are snubbers, capacitors parallel to diodes etc. but the best is to start with a soft diode. Inductance of big electrolytic caps is in series with the output. P...
Power Amp Repair Question It is fair to ask for return of your money. One month is plenty of time to diagnose the problem. They either lack technical ability or are just too busy. Either way, from your perspective no work was done and you have right to demand return. If th...
Custom Bridge Rectifier on a preamp power supply Main problem of linear power supply is switching at the max voltage when diodes become polarized in opposite direction. Current drops rapidly to zero and for a moment diode conducts in opposite direction to snap back to zero. What you need is a so...
wattage Signal applied "not phase coherent"?. Do you suggest that amplifier somehow shifts phase in the audio frequency range causing reduction of perceived loudness ???
Magnet Wire Question Ultra_fi, Can you explain how drill changes structure of the wire material (copper) and what "change of structure" is?
Magnet Wire Question Al, I agree that skin effect might be unimportant. I only stated the boundary since cable companies (AQ FAQ) claim it is important and make all sorts of expensive arrangements like flat woven tape or helical twist of multiple wires on round hollow...

Magnet Wire Question Theoretical skin effect in copper at 20kHz starts at gauge 18. Use drill - you'll never make even twisting by hand. Put at least one turn per inch. Twisted wire effectively reduces noise pickup for frequencies that have wavelength longer than pitc...
wattage Ratio of peak to average power required, as Al said, is very high. Amplifier's power specification alone is only useful for listening to continuous sine-waves. Otherwise 10W amplifier with big headroom can sound much louder than 100W amplifier wit...
How do you clean the volume pots of a audible m3 . http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-F5S-H6-CAIG-DeoxIT-Faderlube/dp/B00006LVF1
Is it really useless Upscaling 16/44.1 music to 24 Lewinskih01, There is no such thing as "Linear Power Supply". All power supplies are switchers and so called linear one is pretty bad one switching at 120Hz - frequency very difficult to filter out. Switching happens at the peak of the voltage whi...
I'm looking for good analog interconnects It wasn't bright in my system. Acoutic Zen Absolute, that replaced it, has pretty much the same neutral sound. King Cobra had great reviews as Python, before AQ moved production to China, lowered prices (to stay competitive) and renamed cables. |
