streamer for PWD DAC mkII - tired of a computer and complicated connectivity! oblgny, you can rip what you listen at the same time. Eventually all CDs will get ripped with no effort. Technically speaking, rip is better than original.
NEW Discovery: Getting the Oppo DSD Output to a Dac. Yes, but this analog output was obtained by using very simple internal D/A converter (practically a filter) that is completely different than converter in your DAC when you feed it PCM. Sound should be different, that's all.
NEW Discovery: Getting the Oppo DSD Output to a Dac. The point was that sound most likely will be different since SACD D/A converter and PCM D/A converter are very different (SACD is simplier). I'm glad you like PCM version more than the original SACD.
NEW Discovery: Getting the Oppo DSD Output to a Dac. Because it was converted from 1-bit 2.8MHz to 24-bit 88.2kHz PCM. It is "high resolution rate" of PCM obtained by converting SACD and not the rate of SACD itself (1-bit 2.8MHz). Also, amount of information is higher than 16/44.1 but sound will ...
NEW Discovery: Getting the Oppo DSD Output to a Dac. What do you mean by "High Resolution rate"? Resolution of SACD is 1-bit. Rate is 2.8MHz. You cannot possibly record that to hard disk. Normally only data is stored to HD without timing. Rate is recreated with playback device or program.
The Distortion of Sound Compressed CDs sell better, because most of people have tiny systems (minitowers, boomboxes etc.) Compression is intentional. Audiophiles with better gear have very low buying power.
The Distortion of Sound I bet, that owners of small boomboxes (that buy more CDs than audiophiles) would prefer red over green.
The Distortion of Sound In absolutely quiet room with great audio system uncompressed music is great, but for the rest of the people who listen on smaller systems, radios, in the car etc. it would be a disaster. Even piano solo has such high dynamic range (in order of 9...
Alternatives to streaming via Apple TV/iTunes I use DAC straight to power amp, but I don't have analog sources. Sometimes it is better with preamp (that helps with impedance matching), but additional component (and cables), cannot improve transparency IMHO.
Alternatives to streaming via Apple TV/iTunes arafiq , I also store data in ALAC and use iTunes. From Mac Mini data is transfered over WiFi to AirPort Express, then by Toslink to Benchmark DAC1 and by XLR to power amp. I don’t know how good is the DAC in Parasound P5, but major problem I can ...
Did you ever think digital and analog would exist side by side the way it is now Don't forget 8-track
Tube preamp reliability vs SS? Tubegroover, That’s what I heard from the few of them. Nice distortion (crunch) is another reason. It seems logical to me that tech person in the band (often one of musicians) can easily bring amp back to life by simply replacing a tube, but SS am...
Tube preamp reliability vs SS? Musicians love tube amps since tubes are easy to replace. Semiconductors failure is harder to diagnose and usually require professional repair.
Tube preamp reliability vs SS? Conrad Johnson has three small tubes on the sockets. Replacement is as simple as pulling one and, after replacing damping rings, pushing new one paying attention to orientation. 5 min job. When I was young, we had TV full of small tubes. First...
When is Apple going to have an Iphoto that runs on El Capitan? I also upgraded to El Capitan, but "Photos" was already installed on my computer by Yosemite. Photos has editing tools like Enhance, Rotate, Crop, Filter, Adjust, Retouch, Red-Eye and Extensions. I haven’t used them yet, but I don’t expect anythin... |
