Cheap but decent preamp ??? The older Bryston pre-amps sell for pretty cheap. Bryston's warranty and service after warranty is impeccible. They charge very reasonable prices for repairs if anything goes wrong. They can also retrofit phono cards on pretty much anything if it d...
ARCAM rDAC I asked my dealer about it today. They called the distributor, who said it was supposed to be here already, but won't be here for a few more weeks. They also said that Arcam is contemplating launching it at CEDIA before they'll allow it to go to d...
Peachtree Audio iDecco & iPod/iPhone Compatibility Thanks for the insight on the iDecco, Bob. If I go the iDecco route, it'll be due to simplicity. Connecting an amp wouldn't be realistic in my case. I have a Bryston B60, but have recently moved and am expecting our first child. The turntable has ...
Peachtree Audio iDecco & iPod/iPhone Compatibility I don't have an iDecco, but I have an iPhone and hopefully can interject some thoughts. The not optimized message has to do with rejecting noise from the phone trying to find a signal. It's that buzzing noise that can happen when any cell phone is...
Peachtree Audio iDecco & iPod/iPhone Compatibility Sorry for a few misspellings. I'm posting from my iPhone and editing isn't very easy. BTW, I'm also controlling my Apple TV with my iPhone as I type this. I'd really like some thoughts on the iDecco if you guys wouldn't mind. I've read a review or...

Why I like my home system better than live music I'm not debating what is more enjoyable. Everyone's idea of enjoyable is personal. I don't think that's the true intention of the thread, but I didn't start the thread, so what do I know? The simplest way for me to put it is that there's a presence...
Best Value in Used Bryston Amps and Monoblocks Magnepan has shown their speakers with Bryston numerous times, if my memory serves me right. If they can choose pretty much any electronics manufacturer and choose Bryston on a regular basis, that says something.
Why I like my home system better than live music It seems like there are a few people who like their stereos more than music itself. While I appreciate a great sounding concert (from a sound quality perspective), I've never gone to one for the sound quality. Call me crazy, but I think going to a...
Best Value in Used Bryston Amps and Monoblocks Rcrerar gave a very good lineage, so to speak. The C-Series designation is not electrical, it is cosmetic. The C-Series was a facelift during I think the SST series. In regards to which is the best sounding series, the newer the better. I'd go no l...
SS integrated with a good DAC The Mani-2s are one of the hardest to drive speakers out there. A friend with a McIntosh MA6900 had problems. Seriously. You're not going to find anything that'll drive them with any control for $1500 IMO.
Small Shelf System For Baby's Room? Instead of using the Airport, what about a Squeezebox Boom or whatever it's called? It streams music and has a built in amp and speaker. Not sure about inputs, but would you really need a CDP if you're streaming music?
Importance of source quality with asynch USB DAC? There's people who'll argue how important asynch is, and those who don't think it makes a difference. I saw the guy from Beresford arguing it doesn't make a difference on a forum. As with everything else in audio, I'd be willing to bet the technolo...
old expensive cd player or new cd mid price ? I used to think newer digital gear blows away older gear. Untrue to my ears. There's more to a digital player than the DAC chip. Power supplies, output devices, etc. make a big difference. James Tanner of Bryston said they were very surprised at h...
Best U.S.A. speakers? McIntosh speakers haven't been mentioned yet. Pretty sure they're made in the USA. Does Krell still make speakers? |
