Preamps with two main-outs
Thanks again for all the input. I think Al has put his finger on the cause for this seemingly unusual behavior. It appears that the Vincent mute feature is is not only on during warm up - roughly 30 seconds, but also active while the amp is powere...
Preamps with two main-outs
I just did an experiment. Powered everything down and disconnected the ICs going to my Vincent SP331. Turned on the preamp and the MC2200s and they sounded fine. Powered everything down and plugged the ICs back in SP331 without turning it on, and ...
Preamps with two main-outs
I guess ignorance is a bliss as I was disappointed that this behavior was normal, albeit my intuition seemed unconvinced. I'll double check my connections to make sure I didn't miss something obvious. Thanks gentleman for providing the counter argu...
Integrated Amplifier with the Good Bass and Extended Highs
The Vincent SV-237 is also a very nice sounding integrated. I had it for a short period before deciding to go with their separate SP-331 amp only because I couldn't justify shelving my NAD preamp. I must confess the separate set up does sound bett...
Preamps with two main-outs
Thank you. It would have been nice to be able to select which (or both) main-out you'd like to be active at any given time especially for scenarios like mine where the amps drive speakers in different (but adjacent) rooms. I have a Schiit Sys pass...
CD players = dead?
grannyring, just out of curiosity, how often do you look for a specific content that you can't find in the Tidal library and need to access your ripped CD collection to find it?
If bi-amping is so great, why do some high end speakers not support it?
So, shardorne, are you saying those of us who've been listening and continue to listen to gear with (only) single ended connections, been hearing crappy sound with ground loop hiss mixed with RF noise all this time? We must be deaf... for sure. So...
Denafrips Terminator R2R Multibit, ultimate pcm redbook converter??
teo, well said. Its funny how we try to justify these seemingly unnecessary purchases for ourselves and for our significant others. We substitute one vice for the other. My argument is I have no other vice, except maybe good Bourbon and my wife’s ...
Denafrips Terminator R2R Multibit, ultimate pcm redbook converter??
To be honest, this is the first time I've ever considered buying a piece of gear sight unseen. The main reason I felt somewhat comfortable with the Soekris brand is their extensive experience in design and manufacturing of some highly sophisticate...
Denafrips Terminator R2R Multibit, ultimate pcm redbook converter??
Had a couple of email exchanges with Soren Kristensen (aka Seokris) and he’s taking preorders for dac1541 or dac1421 (without balanced output). I thought for $825 it would be a great deal so my order is in. The 1541 version with balanced output is...
Speaker cable recommendations with Magnepan .7s
lak opened the door so I'll chime in with my experience. I recently bought a pair of MMGs which is in a room adjacent to the rest of my system which consists of two separate (and different) amps being fed by a single preamp. The "other" amp is run...
The eternal quandary size versus sensitivity versus quality!! Help wanted!!
northern, I was actually also eyeing that Zu Cube but wasn’t sure about the sound quality in the mid-low bass region. I suspect it’ll sound great for a similar type of content as stfoth mentioned for the Omegas; mid-range vocals and small number o...
Martin Logan Tweaks / Upgrades
"....to make the ESL panel rigid, as it does flap around in the breeze a bit back and forward..."Seriously? That might be true if you have them set up in the back yard and during a windstorm....!!!
How much more power do 2 Bryston monoblocks use?
As someone suggested earlier, something like a Krell KSA150 or 250 would give you all the power you need for the 1.7s and the heat to keep you warm in winter. But seriously, I wouldn't put the space heater and the amp(s) on the same circuit. Aside...
Isolation footers for amps
I suppose there's a good explanation why most of these "devices" are sold in sets of three whereas every component I own and have ever owned had four legs. Is the idea to buy four sets to use with three components? What am I missing?
