Suggestions for Full Range Speakers up to 10K
Whatever speaker you ultimately decide, make sure you consider the (port) design especially if you can't push them far into the room.  Almost all the speakers mentioned so far need a lot of space both behind and around them to sound good.
preamp inverts polarity
"...except to check if "maybe" something is out of phase,.."I don't think your ears will be able to tell the difference unless you have a "phase correct" reference you can compare with. I listen to a lot of the same music albums on both LPs and CD...
What makes a speaker sound great at low volume?
In terms of what metrics to look for, in my experience the speakers with very high sensitivity, >96dB, combined with high load impedance, >10ohms, tend to sound more detailed and full at lower listening volumes. I have a pair of single-drive...
LS50 Wireless connection preference?
Congratulations. Node2's DAC is quite good. The BlueOS app is also very user friendly. Let us know how you like it. Enjoy.
NAD C 275 Bee
Just saw Audio Advisor has the Vincent SP-331 on sale for $1K. I think its a steal at that price for any amp that does 150wpc@8 ohms and doubles to 300wpc@4 ohm and has tube input stage. Its built very solid and sounds excellent. It drives my MLs ...
NuForce STA 200
^^^^^ Excellent advice. If most of the content is digital, e.g., streaming, CD, etc., this amp would be a good candidate for a DAC with a volume control , albeit it may sound a bit dry when compared to a tube front end active preamp.
LS50 Wireless connection preference?
The other economical option is using a Chromecast Audio and use its optical output. It sounds real good if fed into a good (external) DAC and allows for streaming content from various cloud services like Tidal, Spotify, etc. It sounds almost as go...
tubes and current
Your speakers and your amp are just about as polar opposite as one could get when trying to match an amp with a pair of speakers. You can read up on tube circuits, current delivery, current vs. voltage source amps, etc., etc., but the bottom line ...
how to connect power for amps
In US, most if not all the backbone wiring in single family homes is 12awg and in many cases the wire from the panel is shared across multiple outlets. Electrically speaking, putting a short 10awg "pigtail" at the end of a very long 12awg wire is ...
NAD C 275 Bee
I tried this amp as well as a Vincent SP-331 a couple of years ago in my system with both my ML Aerius i and Vandersteen 2Ci speakers and ultimately decided to get/keep the Vincent which I still have. I had them paired with a NAD C165Bee preamp, w...
Amplifier for home stereo dedicated to lossless quality music
Just as FYI, Chromecast Audio will benefit from an external DAC. The better the DAC the better it'll sound. I have mine hooked to a Schiit Modi Multibit ($249) then out to a preamp and I think its sounds real good. I tried it with a friend's Ayre ...
Mcintosh 452 vs Pass Labs XA 30.5
"But you are, then don't quote me and then try to "cover" your inability to distinguish "bad load for a speaker" with "inefficiency of a speaker"."I give up. You wore me out. Go read Atkinson's measurements. I'm done with your BS.
Best Rocking Speakers 15K and Under
“@kalali. If you live in NJ , you can save money and made shortertrip to Audio Doctor in Jersey City...”I’m sure I will when I’m ready to upgrade. Every time I visit these high-end Audio stores for just browsing I end up having to deal with serio...
how to connect power for amps
“All of your components should have a label on the rear panel indicating maximum current draw in Amps...”Another way to look at this is determine the amount of watts each component uses at idle as well as full power and use that to base your judgm...
Best Rocking Speakers 15K and Under
If I had a budget of ~$15K and lived in N.J., which I do, I would make a trip to Audio Connection in Verona and pick up a pair of Vandersteen Quattro Wood CT and be done with my speaker chase. One of the best sounds I’ve heard, without a doubt.
