Preamp popping! Its funny. I used to think the amp was before the preamp in the power up sequence during the entire 25+ years I owned my Adcom separates and never heard a pop or had any issues, not even a blown fuse. The first time I heard about the "correct" pow...
Opinions on Quicksilver Valve Linestage Preamp Thanks for the input. Both of these components are very reasonably priced in the used market and seem like great opportunities to jump in to explore a tube preamplifier in the system. QS tube amplifiers certainly have a great reputation.
Boulder monoblock 2150 Most people rather pay big money for a Home Theatre system for watching movies than pay a fraction of that for listening to "just" music. When some of us old timers were growing up, there was very little (interesting) programming on TV so music wa...
Any Rotel love around here? Looking to power my Sonus Faber Olympica 3 Nice amplifier. I'd use the balanced inputs on that Rotel unless you have a very low output impedance preamp. Enjoy.
Boulder monoblock 2150 Also, let's not forget that not all the folks with the means to drop this kind of cash live in the U.S. I would not be surprised if a large percentage of these super high end (and U.S. made) components are shipped overseas. The largest market for ...
Digital player for truck suggestions Some automobile manufacturers offer WiFi connectivity service - I think GM does, and that allows you to stream music for playback on your audio head unit. I don't have first hand experience but technically this functionality should allow you to li...
Stand mount speakers for a very large room !! Find the least efficient; 85-87 dB, largest and heaviest stand mount speakers in your budget and the most powerful amplifiers (read heaviest) you can afford and you should be all set.
Synergistic Red Fuse ... 64 pages... this must be a record...I (obviously) haven't read every single post on every single page, but has anyone asked why not ALL manufacturers use these fuses in their components if they make their units sound better? If it were me, I would...
Quick How to Stream MQA via Tidal to Bluesound A couple of things. Not all of the Tidal MQA contents are delivered at 24/96 so your non-MQA DAC is just showing the original rate. Try a few other titles from the Masters list and you'll see 96 on most of them but that's the most you'll get from ...
Boulder monoblock 2150 It would be nice if there was a way you could use this amplifier to drive the kitchen appliances while listening to your favorite tunes. That would probably be the only way I might be able to convince my significant other that this is a great buy....
Boulder monoblock 2150 I saw that too. It needs a 240v circuit..... I think you need to live within a 50 mile radius of a power station if you consider purchasing this puppy.
Your choice of the most "inert" cabinets ? Hmmm, cast concrete sounds intriguing. Wondering why no one is using this approach. Obviously weight is not as much of a concern seeing loudspeakers already out there weighing hundreds of pounds...
To Pre or not to Pre? Here is my take I think this topic was discussed ad nauseam in an earlier thread and the final conclusion was that there is no conclusion. I was so curios that I even went out and bought a Schiit Sys passive to experiment the hypothesis. In my case, I initially t...
Pioneer SX-1050 speaker problems Wow, this is incredible ...I m still using my SX-780, the HPM-40 speakers (sometimes switch to my JBL L40s bought in 1977) and my Dual 1257 turntable that I bought all brand new back, I think 1976, in my upstairs study. Two entire side walls are c...
Pioneer SX-1050 speaker problems Sounds like you’re over driving the speakers and I suspect you’ll completely destroy those (small) speakers if you had your amplifier at the clipping level. 120 wpc is way over the limits of these speakers if driven at high spl levels. |
