End Game Turntable suggestions
I still think you will end up with an RP-10.  I have not heard the Aphelian 3, but the P-10 with the Apheta 3 is impressive (and hits your budget with no room to spare).
Protip: Using a sub? Plug your mains
It all depends on what you want.  I do not recommend filling the port or reducing the volume of your enclosure unless your speakers are poorly designed in the first place (or if they are designed to be optionally plugged). I use a small REL sub u...
Advice for bookshelf speakers
JBL L100s.  They sound great powered by any crappy amp and, at least, JBL says they are bookshelf speakers and you can smash them against the wall.  You will be delighted!
HELP!!!! Newbie looking for a decent 2 channel power amp in the $1,000 range
Khartego, but spend the extra bucks and have Klaus gussy it up for you.
DAC recommendations
You do not need a better DAC.

Looks like you are getting an RP-10.  Unfortunate that you do not find the 1200 G attractive. I could care less about the looks.  I do not need the adjustable speed and all the strobes and flashing lights.  The cover with its little dome is hard ...
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
Either name your price or put it up to auction.  I don't understand why this is an issue.
Help…looking to buy turntable
I'd look at a Technics sl1200C ($1200 with a decent Ortofon 2M Red cart).  It has a built-in phono pre, but for an additional $129 you could get a Schitt Mani and that should keep you going for a while. The tonearm has a SME style head shell conne...
Cable curmudgeon
I started with a cardboard record player. When I got a little older, my mom let me play records on her console stereo. The sound was better, especially the bass. Next step was a Dynamo ST70/PAS 3x powering Utah 12" speakers. Better. Then I swapped...
Are Harbeth the only warm and euphonic speakers in town ?
Why is it that so many people are gunning for Harbeths? I'll admit they won't suit everybody, but they are the only speakers I have ever owned that don't have me itching for an upgrade.
Is Old Music Killing New Music?
Music forever changed with the advent of recording.  It went from being largely participatory to a passive listening experience.  Once producers learned they could can it and sell it, record companies became the arbiters of taste (having cut their...
Decisive moments your your audio journey
Someone else brought up Grado headphones. Snapping a set of of SR60s on an unsuspecting person’s head is pure evil.
Decisive moments your your audio journey
When I tossed my Realistic Receiver in the bin and built a Dynaco ST70 (paired with a PAS 3x I bought used).  I bought these components because they were cheap and I saved money by soldering it up myself.  When I turned it on, I cried.  Even throu...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
weakest things of harbeths are these.Far away from natural drum set, cymbal shimmer, bowed bass I respectfully disagree.  Just got done listening to Zuill Bailey's most recent attempt at the Bach cello suites (Octave Records OCT-0008), and ...
What phono cartridge is suited for metal and heavy rock?
Why not try out an MC cart?  They tend to show a bit more detail.  I wouldn't go much above the aforementioned Dynavector.  For your table and arm a Sumiko Bluepoint would be a good fit, or a Hana EL (or EH, whatever matched best with the M1 LPS)....
