How many records do you own? About 600 Jazz records and holding steady but still buying. I go for quality over quantity. I figure I listen to about 300 - 400 different records a year so much more than that and I would be buying records which would just sit on the shelf for ye...
Who has made their own LP cleaning solution? I read in last months stereophile that Michael Fremmer is planning a review of various cleaning solutions in a near future issue. I hope he includes AIVS in the shootout - it is also my preferred cleaner.
I damanged my Shelter cartridge, next steps?.... Outlier - just talk to the analog department at Music Direct. That is the standard replacement deal from Shelter as I understand it. They said it cannot be repaired but I had to send them the old one, probably to prove I wasn't just trying to buy ...
I damanged my Shelter cartridge, next steps?.... I did the same thing once while trying to "dust off my TT. My condolences, it was a very bad day for me as well. Music direct gave me 50% off on a new 501 ($400) when I sent them the damaged unit (which I hadn't originally purchased from them).

Mono vs Stereo LP's Glad for you if you have that recording 4yanks! According to Allmusic Jazz, Farmers Market was a compilation of sessions that Art made in the mid 50's which explains the date ambiguity. Love that Art Farmer!! I also recently picked up a 10" origin...
Mono vs Stereo LP's I tried a little experiment this evening based on suggestions here and the Asylum. I got two Y connectors at Radio Shack with reversed male and female RCA connectors and used them to blend down the stereo outputs to mono and then in to the phono p...
Mono vs Stereo LP's Thanks to both of you for the info. As it happens, I do use Audio Intelligent Vinyl Solutions which I would agree is an excellent cleaner ... the best I have ever tried. I cleaned this record before playing and then again after noticing the noise ...
Plinius M16 Phono vs. Plinius M14 Separate Phono Hi Tfjm, the Plinius, as a solid state amp, gave more detail and bass than the previous phonostages I mentioned. It has adjustable gain and loading. I use mostly low gain even though my cartridge is a Moving coil Shelter with .4mv output. This is ...
Plinius M16 Phono vs. Plinius M14 Separate Phono In my experience different quality phonostages make a big difference. I have the Plinius M14 today which works very nicely in my system with a LAMM LL2 preamp and was a substantial improvement over a previous system (Sonic Frontiers Signature phon...
A good adjustable phonostage? Have you considered a Plinius M14 which has adjustable gain and impedence for a number within your budget used.
