Why do Tube Amps sound more romantic v SS amps
jerryg123, Maybe for legato speakers, which is nice, but my comment is an overall comment for most speakers. We live in a solid state amp world and most speakers are not well designed for tube amps. So keep this in mind when you're buying a tube...
Custom rack, isolation under platform vs component?
Why do you need an isolation Device below most components.?. For turntables it makes sense. Otherwise does it really matter? Maybe if you lived on top of a subway platform but then how can you possibly listen to anything if this happens
Why do Tube Amps sound more romantic v SS amps
I have heard that most speaker designs are built to deal with solid-state amplifiers. Add that buying a tube amp does not flourish with modern day speakers.  Wish I could recall specifics as to why this is.  Maybe someone else does.
Are advances in technology making speakers better?
The rest of my signal chain is in great shape.  I invested quite well in all the stuff supporting the speakers and i can now accommodate superior Magico speakers.    My philosophy is to avoid the upgrade cycle by buying top of the line products. ...

Maybe I buy Magico speakers.  Always been curious about those. The really expensive ones are really big.
Are advances in technology making speakers better?
So maybe I can upgrade my B&w 802 d3 to d4.  Not sure they're all that much better but I may do it.  Hate getting rid of the d3 speakers, maybe I can put them in the back of the room as rare speakers.
Accoustical panels vs isolation platform
This is interesting I like this idea, isolation platform's are helpful but incredibly overpriced for what they do and there's easy substitutes out there. The tiles are basically compressed fiber boards and super cheap and you can shape them if yo...
When someone tells you it's a $40,000 amp, does it sound better?
Yeah that probably relates to higher cost class D amps.  But mostly d amps are bargain basement variety and sound pretty bad.  Because home theater is the niche market for d stuff in a world where sound Quality don't matter too much.
Transparent interconnect Cable, Super versus ultra
Ghdprentice, Notice you don’t use ultra in your home theater set up. Thanks for info. If I bought ultra I would use a 10 foot length between a preamp, cj gat2 and macintosh 600 watt monos, amp is connected to b&w 802 d3’s with transparent Su...
Bulk cable for rear speakers
DH labs pricing is horrifying, especially for rear speakers.  This is unfinished cable and no doubt substantially hi margins for the seller.

My gosh this has become very scholarly with respect to transients in a class D setting. Isn't the harsh reality of class D is that it's to clinical and precise, and harsh. With class AB you get distortion and isn't that what harmonics is all abou...
Lumin Ap on Lumin players - not so good?
No it's one subscription. You just have to have both pieces working together that's all. Yea it's confusing. Talk to the guy sold you the t2 I own the X1 because I liked idea of not getting a separate dAc.
Lumin Ap on Lumin players - not so good?
the core is where the roon operating software sits. It can be on your computer or a nucleus or a server.   You need to connect the app to the core via ethernet or wireless. As an example, An iPad would be an endpoint.
When someone tells you it's a $40,000 amp, does it sound better?
Phusis I think I have A real interest in what you're trying to say. I believe you're trying to distinguish between efficient and less efficient speakers. Whereas higher power amps are used to drive…… and this is where I run into a problem with wh...

I don’t understand what motivates Jay’s audio lab? Is he trying to make money? Views are not making money even if they were quadruple what he's doing right now. I used to kind of like it but it's always the same thing. It just goes on and on and o...
