Variable analog output cdp under $800 used? I would look for something with an analog volume control. Resolution Audio CD50 or CD55 come to mind ... also several Dynaco players had analog volume controls and were quite good. I think they were CDV-1, CDV-2 and CDV-Pro but not sure.
Cool-running tube or SS amp for small room a great, cool running tube amp for Vandersteens is the Music Reference RM10 (mk I or II) ... only about 1/2 the rated power of what you are asking about at 28w/ch but I think you would be very happy with the resulting music
OPINION ON STARTER 2 CHANNEL USED PREAMP if you need a linestage only, look for a passive design with remote ... in that price range a passive will most likely outperform an active linestage
Toslink to mini optical cable suggestions. Van Den Hul has a mini to Toslink cable (Optolink??) but I think the longest run is 2m
Best Used Floorstanders for Rock & HT under $2100? klipsch cornwall or forte ... not sure how they would be mated to a home theater receiver though
How to pack Cain Abby speakers maybe you can find someone who still has the crates for their Bens who would sell them to your or loan them to you if you pay shipping to/from for the empties ... might be the best way to move them safely!Jeff
Subs for coners or built-in sub inside speakers I THINK Tact and Lyngdorf have corner subs ... not sure how compatible they are with speakers besides their own though
Two years on...AZ Adagios still quality performer? the other speaker that I see this happening to is the VSA 4jr. Seems there are always several pair of these as well as the Adagio on the used market at GREATLY reduced prices. Never heard either but both have gotten great reviews.
which bang for the buck DAC? another consideration would be an integrated amp with DAC (or a digital integrated).I use the Bryston B100SST with DAC with excellent results. A Tact or Lyngdorf integrated should work very well too. Neither has a USB input however so you will nee...
Acoustic Zen Adagio vs VSA VR4jr always seem to be at LEAST on pair of each available on the used market at good prices ... why not buy both and sell the pair you like less in your system/room?? probably would not lose any $$$ except shipping (and maybe not even that!)Jeff
1 piece of audio gear I really regret selling is.. excellent sound but needed the $$$ at the time
Newbie needs advice for upgrade. maybe some Rega speakers for system synergy ... some of their older models are very inexpensive but sound great ... their floorstanders are full sounding and maybe a tad forward but are always a pleasure to listen to ... try to find a used pair of...
Bookshelves British speakers tend to have the rep of being "polite" ... look for some of the LS3/5a models from Spendor, Harbeth or Clements ... older but still relevant and hold there resale value better than most should you not like them for some reason
Best looking Amp/Preamp/Integrated? anything by Pathos Acoustics but if you like the Calaf, the Logos would probably be your fav
Bedroom speakers maybe something vintage like Allison speakers ... they made a nice wall mount model (Allison 4 I believe) with an upward firing woofer. great sounding speaker in its day! I think the woofer was 8" and the speaker had great bass due to the "on wall... |
