seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget)
+1 for the Volti Rivals. Of course it all depends on what you most value. For myself, I think dynamics is what makes music come alive & sound close to the real thing. Many of those suggested require heroic amplification to get there if at all ...
How good is Aesthetix audio?
I don’t have any experience w/ their power or integrated amps but owned their Calypso pre amp for several years. It was a very high quality piece, performed flawlessly, sounded excellent. The few times I had questions, was able to speak to very kn...
Gaia versus Mapleshades
I think it most lucky depends on what type of floor you have whether it’s best to couple or decouple. If your floor is very solid, cement slab topped with tile or wood or even carpet, then coupling to it w/ spikes & the like works well. If you...
Perplexed on how single driver speakers can cover such a large Hz range
As dynamiclinearity mentioned, at any given, whatever any driver is doing at any given time is a complex combination of many different frequencies albeit in a more limited way in a classic woofer, midrange or tweeter than a single driver design. I...
A Black Box to Solve Everything
Isn’t this whole conversation a bit ironic? Trying to create a high tech solid state device to mimic the natural, 3 dimensional sound of a simple tube based circuit?  I always thought that the primary reasons why good quality tube amps can sound s...
Baffled by Pricing Strategy
It could be a silly convoluted version of the oldest sales trick in the books . The price is X but today, before a substantial price increase coming, you can have it for .7 X for someone who may be a new potential buyer & just started looking....
Can an audio rack be that important?
I think it really depends on the room & more specifically the floor. If you have a cement slab floor  it makes life much easier. Generally, you want to couple to that floor as directly & firmly as possible. Putting the equipment right on t...
Best Receiver?
The tuners in the Better Pioneer receivers in the mid 70’s were very good. Overall, I really liked the best  Tandberg Units of that era, very nice sounding & high build quality.
Do my ears deceive me??
Great story! I almost went to Greg’s place during Covid time but my business requirements mounted & when the Capitol Show was announced x& I saw he was going to be there, I just waited. I have not played with the resistors at all , what di...
Do my ears deceive me??
I went to the Capital Audiofest in Maryland to see & listen to both of them which I did multiple times over the weekend. Trip cost me about $1000 which I figured was just the cost of the speakers.o bought the pair at the show ( Red Gum w/ blac...
Do my ears deceive me??
Hilarious! I really enjoy my Volti Rivals too! Very few (if any) speakers are as sensitive,  dynamic & live sounding along with tone, imaging & detail as both the speakers are in their respective price categories.
Do my ears deceive me??
I didn’t read every post but if no one else mentioned them, check out Volti Audio Razz.  Nice combo of kick a… dynamics , tone, image. Around $6K w/ many finish options
High end speakers at low volume
Seems like A high sensitivity speaker would be in order in your case. Check out Volti Audio Razz ( quite good/ true 93db/ around $6K) / Stereophile recommend ) or Rival ( very good/ true 98db/ around $15K). Both are very dynamic, sound great at an...
Can the level of pleasure derived from music be measured?
Some really funny answers here! I put the question in the same category as my sunset rating system: Last night was pretty good at an 8.75 but the night before came in at 9.138.no contest!
Can you give me your speaker suggestions?
Check out the Volti Audio Razz. Might be just what you’re looking for. Very well hand made in TN by Greg Roberts, sound excellent, very dynamic like all the Klipsch but w/ more nuance & better tone, look nice w/ lots of finish options & ar...
