I also highly recommend Fidelis. Walter & company are highly knowledgeable, honest & very reasonable on pricing. I have known Walter for over 40 years & have bought lots of different equipment from him  & always been very satisfied!!
Best Receiver for “Mid-Fi” System?
Anthem make some of the very best surround sound receivers. They’re a bit pricey but well made & sound very good. I’ve had my 7 channel one for several years now , it works flawlessly, sounds very good & quite powerful.
??? WHY WHY WHY ??? Class A vs Everything Else
lynn_olson - That’s what my Dad taught me years ago about the different classes of electronic operations & I’ve always believed. He was an EE & held several patents for a variety of telecommunications equipment as well as built his own amp...
??? WHY WHY WHY ??? Class A vs Everything Else
I agree on class A generally sounding better than most other types of amps. Years ago I had a White Audio Labs 100 watt / side class A power amp & it sounded really nice but of course was a beast & drew 5 amps at all times much of which we...
What is the most overlooked consideration?
For myself, build quality / proven reliability is of the utmost importance. Then after requirement is met ( hopefully), sound quality that brings you closest to live music.    I can’t be bothered by finicky, questionably made products & shipp...
How much power needed to drive 91db speakers?
As others have mentioned, power requirements also depend on the size of your room & volumes you enjoy. In addition, the type of music is a consideration. Quieter acoustic music generally uses little watts but music w/ big dynamics and / or big...
Band/artist documentaries.
“If You Could Read My Mind” about Gordon Lightfoot on Amazon Prime is really good. Gordon narrates most of it himself & is very honest about his life. He’s one of the greatest singer / songwriters ever.
We Need To Talk About Ones And Zeroes
The analog output sections in DACS have a huge effect on the final sound quality of the digital sources. The quality of the transformers & other parts used as well as the circuit board’s & physical candy’s including their feet & isolat...
Integrated that blew you away
I really enjoy my Roger’s High Fidelity EHF 200 Mark II integrated. It’s very powerful at 100+  watts / channel in full class A operation so it dies put out plenty of heat. Sounds excellent w/ great bass & a big, rich sound w/ lots of air &...
OT: Espresso machines
I have & enjoy the Rancillio Silvia Pro X. It’s the real deal, made in Italy, about $2000. High quality single head machine w/ two boilers like all quality machines have. It’s simple, works very well, not too big but pretty heavy. Definitely w...
Speakers for leading edge, transients, speed and big sound
I second Volti Rivals. I value those loudspeaker traits also & they fill my pretty big room (a little over 6000 cu ft) w/ ease & sound excellent & close to live music. Beyond their speed, dynamics & big sound, they also image  quit...
Revel F36 or Dali Oberon 7
I don’t know what you’re actual expectations are but if your looking to fill a big room at reasonably high sound pressure levels w/ a full bottom end & smooth mid range & treble etc., I doubt a $2000 pair of speakers will suffice even used...
Favorite Song Lyrics of All Time. What Say You?
Any one of a dozen of Gordon Lighfoot songs. I think he’s amongst the best songwriters of all time.
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
Wow! Impressive presentation & command of speaking w/ lithe or no “ timing errors”…. Seriously, obviously a very intelligent man & very well spoken!    I do wonder how the differences & details he outlined might be different using  a ...
"audiophiles listen to their equipment"
The “better” the system is, the more it gets out of the way  & lets the musical artists & sometimes the recording & mastering engineers talents to shine through. It is more “faithful” to the original recording.  While I can & do e...
