dac reccomendation - xlr & tube optional
Bigkidz is correct, my Tube Technology Fusion CD64 player uses the Chord 64 bit WTA Dac married to an all discrete tubed analog output stage. It's by far the best cd player I've ever owned. Also it has BNC digital ins and outs so it can be used as...
starting from just about scratch w/ $600 to spend
I agree with the vintage Thorens route, you can get a nice one totally set up for around $200-250, and then a used Bellari Rolls tube phono stage for just under $200 used. Then the rest of your budget can go to records or maybe a Nitty Gritty reco...
Bryston vs. PS Audio
I would suggest with your speakers trying tubes. For $3K lots of great stuff, like a VAC Avatar or BAT integrateds. Lot's of seperates as well, do some research and have some fun. If possible get out and listen to stuff.
What should be the terms between buyer and seller
Also you should talk to the seller on the phone, that's a great way for both of you to guage your comfort level with one another. You can often get a sense if a seller/buyer feels right. Good luck!
Air Tight ATC-1 preamp question
The two tubes inside the chassis are used for the linestage. There are three tubes on the left side of the chassis that are installed horizontally in a recessed area and these are for the phono stage. Great preamp by the way, I used to own one and...
Opinions on Krell KPS 30i Please
I used to own one, paid $1500 for it about two years ago and sold it for the same, and liked it very much. Astounding detail while still being musical and built like a battleship. I only sold mine because it wouldn't play most cdr's and I have a l...
CDP clicks between tracks.and at the begininning??
What type of player is it and have you contacted the manufacturer? My player, a Tube Technology Fusion, uses a Sony Transport, not sure which model, and exhibits no clicking. I don't mean to be obvious, but the guys who built it should be able to ...
Shanling Cd player in tv commercial
Slight mistake, it's actually a Shanling amp not cd player. It's definitely Shanling but the display is round in the ad like their amps, not their players. Ketchup you're right I think, it's in that Dr. Angus "cheesey" commercial that there's a wh...
HDCD 'best one box player' recommendations?
I second the Cary rec, the 306/200 looks like a steal at used prices. Also if your system is Accuphase it goes without saying that Accuphase makes some pretty amazing players. I don't know if they support hdcd, but I have to say I don't really get...
Just bought a 55" plasma...
Congratulations!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it for many years to come.
300B SET Tube Amp recommendations anyone??
Dogpile,Pushpull and SET are two different things. Which do you want? If you mean triode then yes there are pushpull triode amps, but SET is the opposite of pushpull.
red book
Redbook just refers to standard cd's as opposed to sacd or dvd. It was simply what it was called back when cd's were being developed because the hard info was kept in a red colored binder.
I'm done Really
Ecruz,If you really think you're done well..... let's just say you might be kidding yourself. One thought, do us all a favor and post your system on here with pics. The more the merrier!
Turntable help
David,Do a search as this is easily one of the most discussed topics on this site. Check it out, there's lots to learn and plenty of opinions. Also check out the vinyl asylum over at www.audioasylum.com. Happy listening!
Tube Preamplifier Time
I love my Herron VTSP-1A, it's neutral and transparent with just a touch of warmth. It's also the quietest tubed preamp I've ever owned. You can often find them used for just under $2K. Happy listening!
