What’s wrong with these McIntosh Monoblocks?
Take the amps to a tech who can work on them any of a number of things could be wrong. And as said above always use a variac and ramp up the voltage slowly. A sudden inrush of current can do damage to long unused electronics.
Mixing eras
Yes no issue whatsoever with an older amp and no speakers and your Mcormack is a very capable amp.
Stuff You Tried To Love
Supratek Syrah preamp this was back when all the hype started and it just never sounded good in my system and also hummed like crazy.
Quite a few Bricasti M21 DACs for sale cheap
Not a comment on Bricasti just used prices in general 50% of retail is the norm or at least it used to be so a $16K item selling for $8-10K seems about right.
Differences in YouTube, Spotify, etc.
Qobuz and Amazon here Spotify sounds pretty bad to me I don't stream Youtube or watch music videos very often.
Florida -- Audio Equipment Movers?
I would definitely move audio gear on my own and let the movers move the rest of it. Big TVs are a very common item for movers I wouldn't worry too much about them moving that.
Volti v Charney v Rethm
I really like both Charney and Volti with a preference for Charney I find them to be very continuous and lively. Rethm I've only heard once and don't remember the model I liked it but that's all I remember.
Art Blakely & The Jazz Messengers Caravan (2024 Remaster) - anyone heard it?
I listened to this last night didn't even realize it was a new remaster as far as I can remember it sounded good I love that album. I was definitely multitasking however.
Paypal drastic changes
This is not about politics so why don't we stop talking about them? And audioman58 your post has been debunked so many times there are not 85K new agents give it up.
Basic Music Purchase Question
It will sound the same or possibly better yes.
Jazz Mount Rushmore
Man how did I leave out Coleman Hawkins and Lester Young?! 🤦
New streamer needed
An Auralic Aries G1 or G1.1 would fit the bill nicely and should be in your price range used.
Jazz Mount Rushmore
Yes to Clifford Brown and Max Roach or course Art Pepper and Bill Evans. Also Kenny Burrell, Freddy Hubbard, Gene Ammons, Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Horace Silver, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock to name a few.
Anybody here listened to Daniel Hertz Speakers? What did you think?
The M7 looks interesting but I think they are still a bit overpriced. Never heard them though are there even any dealers?
Jazz Mount Rushmore
For me Sonny Rollins over Coltraine. And Thelonius Monk over Mingus. But yes on Miles and Duke. I'd love to have Dizzy Gillespie in there too and I have huge soft spots for both Oscar Peterson and Cannonball Adderly. And let's not forget Art B...
