Conrad Johnson CAV 50
However re-reading it, it's rather confusingly written as there seems to indeed be an active preamp stage incorporated into the CAV50.
Conrad Johnson CAV 50
Jazz no confusion I read this on c-j's website regarding the CAV50:"Because each element of an audio circuit introduces its own sonic colorations, a simple circuit should be expected to yield superior musical performance. At conrad-johnson, we ...
Technical Question - Tube Preamp
You do need the DAC in your planned configuration, since you already own the Bryston, assuming you like it, you're all set, just add a tubed preamp as you are intending.
tube amp and spotify
Gary sounds like a nice setup, also running Tidal through Sonos, sounds great through my Yamamoto DAC and tube seperates. I can't comment on Wilson-Benesch specifically but I am running Focal or I should say JMlabs, the Original Micro-Utopias. If ...
Job Integrated Amp.
@devilboy yes shorter signal paths and gear that's optimized to work together also, you can't discount that. Not to mention, sometimes stuff just sounds better than other stuff common sense or laws of physics be damned! ;)
Conrad Johnson CAV 50
Roly the CAV-50 is an integrated so it's an amp and preamp combined in one chassis though it doesn't have an active preamp stage so it's really a passive preamp. So what I'm sure Jazz is referring to are the small signal tubes you have 1 12au7 and...
Do you remember when Audiogon was just a bulletin board classified ad site?
TWL yes,  and let's not forget Tireguy either Tim was always had great opinions and advice and was a cool guy.
R.I.P. David Bowie
Awful news RIP Mr. Bowie.
Unique problem - one channel silent under different variables
springbok10 regardless of the problem ALWAYS turn your preamp on and then your amps! Turn on sequence........sources>preamp>amp and turn off sequence is in reverse for the safety of your gear and peace of mind!
Decision Decision Decision between Cary and Audio Research Sound
Since you already have a preamp why not go the separates route with ARC? Not espousing the sound per se I have no experience with it, but it will give you flexibility plus the gear should play together well. Also never heard the Cary SLI-80 though...
Should a Jack and Coke be renamed a Lemmy
Oh also no offense to Lemmy, and perhaps this reflects poorly on me, but I did have to google him to figure out who he was. So perhaps not so universally recognizable to have a drink named after?
Should a Jack and Coke be renamed a Lemmy
The problem is, obviously, Jack and Coke isn't the name of a drink really, it's a description of a drink. Beyond that I have no issues with trying to name if after Lemmy just doubt it will stick.
New format, dislike.....
I have to say after getting used to it, and Agon staff listening to our many suggestions, I LOVE the new format!

@mofimadness those are speakers? lol I assumed it was the doors to your bedroom in your imaginary mansion!
Bass is not enough !!! Speaker problem? Speaker cable? Power Amp? PC of Power Amp?
Opera_lover at this point try moving the speakers around as people have suggested and rather than music try listening to test tones of bass frequencies to really get an idea of what's going on.
