Which Nakamichi to choose?
The main difference between the two decks is the Deck 1 will let you adjust azimuth to fine tune the sound with each tape type. The DR-2 does not. Other than that they are pretty comparable decks the DR-2 being a bit newer has slightly better spec...
Tube pre amp
@madavid0 I think those qualities you are describing are typically applied to DHT amps, preamps using those tube types are fairly rare.
Is APower Conditioner For A Mostly Vintage System Worth Getting?
I would recommend something like this:https://www.amazon.com/Wiremold-L10320-Power-Strip-outlets/dp/B00DWIL16O/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=...Wiremold is just a power strip but high quality with no lights or leds or switches just that can mess up t...
Speakers under $5000 maintained a reputation for quality sound over the last 15 years.
Audio Note both the AN-J and AN-K.
Selling My DAC
If your gear doesn’t sell you pay just the base listing fee not the percentage of the sale because there was no sale. Hopefully that makes sense.
News: Qobuz Hi-Res platform's debut is scheduled for this October. See Qobuz Links below
Very cool I've been waiting! And Auralic does support Quobuz on it's Lightning DS app so I am all set there! I have to say though I am happy with Tidal and any issues with buffering are in the distant past. I hope there are some catalog difference...
What speakers work well against a wall
+1 on the Audio Note AN series great sounding speakers.
If cost was no factor, what system would you build as your main audio system?
@melbguyone I am with you there as much as I admire the big horns my 800 sq foot condo would be not be the place to own them! Cones and domes here too in the form of some Audio Note AN-Js.@jhills Yes the WE horns and reproductions can be rather en...
Audio for the Young - Noho Sound
Yes bait and switch them to death! If one in a thousand gets interested then that's a good thing. We need young  audiophiles, and I think the vinyl resurgence could push a few of them our way as mcsclipp says. Love what these guys are doing, I pla...
If cost was no factor, what system would you build as your main audio system?
@melbguyone No I didn't but that sounds amazing I'm in the US and never been to Munich. My local dealer Deja Vu Audio builds field coil speakers and amps and preamps from vintage WE parts. Also my friend has a pair of the big Shindo field coils, L...
Decware Tori II vs. Line Magnetic 518ia
Curious what about the Torii makes you think it's better "on paper" than your LM?
Tube vendor recommendations?
Despite some folks not liking Upscale and Kevin Deal I've had good service, great tubes, and no problems from them.
My next Coax / SPDIF after Green Hornet
thiefofflight the Jorma has great natural warmth without obscuring detail, as far as bass extension it seems quite full and extended but tough to compare. I was using different speakers when I had the Green Hornet, Focal Micro-Utopia's then Audio ...
Audio for the Young - Noho Sound
Looks like a cool shop. I saw a less ambitious cool shop in Paris last month lots of turntables, some cool looking speakers, lots of cool looking retro MCM consoles and bluetooth devices. A few small form amps from folks like Rega and Micromega. L...
My next Coax / SPDIF after Green Hornet
I currently am using the Jorma Design digital cable and it sounds fantastic, midrange magic in spades, organic sounding and properly extended. They pop up used on here from time to time in the $500 range if you see one I recommend grabbing it.I pr...
