Esoteric K01: What are the best settings for CD?
The Final verdict.....The K-01 is indeed a chameleon which is proving to be quite an animal to break in. So, after 800 hours of break-in time as advised, I shall try to summarise my observations of the various combo settings. Firstly, everything w...
Audio Research DSI 200 integrated amp
Yes. The dynamic headroom was indeed restricted. It was just a poor match for my speakers, MBL 121,which were a bear to drive - low sensitivity at 84 dB with impedance dropping to 2 ohms at times. The Mac power does not double with halving of the ...

Flashunlock,Thanks for your detailed observations. With regard to your various modifications, I guess you feel they would be worth it even as they would void the warranty.Happy listening! Cheers! Jon.
Esoteric K01: What are the best settings for CD?
Flashunlock,That's one heck of a system you got there. And the only thing that you have that most others who have posted here do not is the Mio La Clock. So, with this clock, your preference for DSD is now understandable. Can you please detail the...

Flashunlock,This thread is getting very interesting. So much diversity in the choice of filters. Just curious, what amp and speakers do you have in your system?Jon.
Audio Research DSI 200 integrated amp
Hi Jimmy,I knew it was the amp because everything else was working well until I changed it. My previous amp was the Krell 300i integrated and I was looking for a warmer sound. In the showroom, I guess the dealer knew how to keep the volume down as...
Audio Research DSI 200 integrated amp
About the McIntosh MA 6600, I used to own one and felt that it was good only up to a certain volume. Above this level, the sound is in tatters - ragged, congested, collapse of soundstage - in a word, unbearable. The level at which this occurs woul...
Infinity Prelude MTS
I used to own these speakers. Because of their high sensitivity and active woofers for the low frequencies, you would do well with a tube amp for the midrange and treble. ARC and Cary amps come to mind.

Hi Guido,You are so lucky! I am so totally absolutely green with envy! Ah well, in my next life......maybe.
Vienna Die Muzick flagship speakers
Hi Guido,I have read ypur excelllent review of these speakers in PFO and am wondering whether Part 2 has been published. I can't seem to find it. Regards. J.
Esoteric K01: What are the best settings for CD?
Hi Matjet,I am another K-01 fan, having just acquired it a few months back.I concur with your experience regarding warm-up time. I leave mine on all the time and put it on repeat play for 2 hours before serious listening.I run it direct to my powe...
Next step after Benchmark DAC1
The M2Tech Young with Palmer (battery) Power Station would be an excellent upgrade. Well received by Stereophile in latest May 2013 issue. It was actually compared to the Benchmark DAC and was preferred.
Digital cable...
I have used the Kimber Illuminati D60 previously and it is indeed an excellent cable. Do get only the 0.5m length for best sonics and value.
