The future of preamps Hi all,I find this thread so interesting, especially amongst such exalted company, that I would humbly chime in with my two cents.I guess the proof is always in the pudding, and of course, in this hobby, listening. I have always thought that runni...
baetis media server Hi Samh,I am also waiting to pull the trigger on this but still waiting for more feedback which so far seems sparse in this forum. Is the CD ripping problem due to hardware or software? Thanks in advance.
Anyone else impressed with Oyaide's USB cable? Hifimaniac,I notice from the virtual system section, you have the Beatis Audio server in a most awesome system. Tell me more as I am thinking of pulling the trigger on it. The most important question for me is does Redbook cd sound better ripped b...
Anyone else impressed with Oyaide's USB cable? Hifimaniac,I too have the Oyaide usb cable and it sounds wonderful! After about 200 hours of break-in, playing hi-res files through my Esoteric K-01's DAC, is as good as it gets, way better than Redbook CD via its transport.
Why do McIntosh come with cheap plastic remotes? You can add Jeff Rowland to the list. My JR preamp comes with a small plastic remote that says 'Made in Korea' at the back. The preamp looks and sounds gorgeous but the remote is so out of place, a bit like having a plastic spoon in the midst of s...
New Esoteric P02 D02 Hi Eelii08,Thanks for your kind response. I agree with you that at 0 dB, the sound is more relaxed and pleasant at low level listening. But there is a loss of dynamics when it comes to orchestral crescendoes. So I guess we can pick and choose depe...
To upgrade from Simaudio 600I to 740p/860a combo? Hi Harris4cma,It may be that very few people have heard the FS Ketema. Neither have I but if you have found good synergy between it and the Simaudio integrated, your system will most likely sound better with separates. The advantages of separates ...
Sonus Faber Amati Futura amp opinions... You have heard both amps with your own speakers and you should trust only your own ears. You are paying good money for their pleasure not for those belonging to others. That is the only advice you can trust.
New Esoteric P02 D02 Hi Eelii08,It is interesting that you mentioned about the xlr configuration. I find +6 dB setting in my system with a JR Capri S2 preamp driving the K -01 player better in every way. Is this your experience too for the combo?
It was 20 years ago today. . What was your system? Back then, my system comprised :-1. Pioneer Stable Platter CD player2. NAD 3020 integrated amp3. Spica TC 50 speakers4. Kimber interconnects and speaker cables
Experiencing Rowland M925 4-chassis reference amps The 825/925's are Class D? And they sound gorgeous? Sacrebleu!Ahh, the progress of technology. Hurray for that.
ARC tube CD players - Burn in Breaking-in 24/7 is the norm for all components. I have done it for every new component but if you ask the manufacturer, they usually tend to be cautious, especially with tubed gear, by not recommending it just in case of a mishap.... That said, I...
USB/SPDIF converter and DAC combinations Hi Mesch,If you already have the BDA-1, why not get the new BDP-2 as your USB to SPDIF upgrade? The reviews so far have been very good. My fingers are itching to pull the trigger for the BDP-2 but unfortunately, if I run it to my Esoteric K-01, I ...
Krell Cipher Issues? Yashu,The Oct issue of Stereophile features a review of the ARC CD9 and the reviewer compared it to the Cipher and found the sound of these two players to be very, very similar and the only very slight difference was that the ARC is a little bit s...
Berkeley dac1 versus Esoteric K-03 Thanks, Cerrot for the heads-up.It looks like no matter how well implemented the usb interface is, asynchronous notwithstanding, spdif remains superior for sound quality. An alternative to souping up my pc would be to get a high end usb to spdif c... |
