Beginner improvements for room acoustics; very helpful Darko video on reverb and RT60
Remember QRDDude? They had some interesting diy diffusor panel designs. Another site had a calculation to show how much larger the room "sounded " after using diffusor panels. The deeper the slats the lower the diffused frequency. Cool stuff!
Diffuser Panels/Room Treatment Question
Remember QRDdude? They had some great diy examples for diffusor panels. There was also a site that showed how much larger your room would "sound" with each panel. I recall the deeper the slats the lower frequency diffusion capability. Cool stuff.
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
Agreed @charles1dad  @mijostyn These 8’ panels…where need they be located in relation to front and side walls? What size room approx? The few Ive heard where mad far out into the room.…

Agreed.  I asked for an upgraded power supply....which I believe is the main difference between the Chardonnay and Cabernet.....   Another way of saying "please change my order to Cabernet" LOL!
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
I always thought it was slots or discontinuities in the THROAT of a horn that could often cause a “spitty” or sibilant sound compared to an identical horn with a smooth throat…

 "When you order remember you can customize the preamp" Yes and no lol.... last week I tried to upgrade the power supply on a Chardonnay order and Mick basically talked me out of it. Between his saying the boutique caps, resistors and inductors...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@mijostyn @charles1dad  Absolutely! Its why I said IME…
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@mijostyn that is interesting…it’s the polar opposite of my experience
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
I’ve tried some relatively high end speakers (in my world) with low sensitivity … B741 SS……then floor to ceiling line arrays …then others I can’t remember them all.   While some had their attributes …(actually only the line arrays) none had the...
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
@blisshifi agreed… Except aren’t we talking sensitivity? so 90-94db= “medium sensitivity “ lolololol
What is your take on high efficient speakers vs. low efficient speakers?
+1 @larryi  Your last paragraph sums it up to me… Lack of dynamics (generally due to thermal compression) always brings me back to “HIGH SENSITIVITY LOUDSPEAKERS”
Name this wonderful system
@carlsbad ditto 😎

What does Q mean in speaker specifications?
Total Q of a driver (only) is two parameters- mechanical and electromagnetic … Dont mistake this for “total system Q” which incorporates an enclosure (and it’s volume/ port size length  (or sealed).
What does Q mean in speaker specifications?
+1 @erik_squires  when seeing Q of a loudspeaker mentioned as a generalization like that, they are likely (hopefully) referring to “total Q”
