When Traveling, Best Way to Hear CDs... I used to fly quite a bit and portability was king. I found my best solution was a set of Sony NC-20 noise reduction headphones and a Sony D-335 CD player (an old $300+ model). The noice cancellation could have been more powerful but at it allowed...
BAT VK 3i vs Audible illusions mod3a ?? I tried a modulus 3a & I didn't care for it. I only ran it with my mccormack amp/virgos/nordost. It was a mid year 2000 unit that had some telefunken NOS tube in it & the new stepped attenuators. I found it to be warmer but significantly n...
Music trivia anyone? Hey Undertaker ! Great going! You got all four correct!1) SRV and Double Trouble had actually set up an interview promo/play date to support their new album 'Texas Flood'. It was to be on a day that Bowie's tour was not playing. Bowie heard about ...
BAT VK 3i vs Audible illusions mod3a ?? The bat VK30Se is the second best preamp I have heard with my vt100m2. The best is the vk50SE. My old ARC Ref1 was very good too. Does Anyone have any feedback on how good/bad the vk30Se optional phono stage is ?
Best Tube Amp under 10K? Tough question. Tube amps are different enough that you really have to buy according to your tastes. Some of my favorites are: vt100m2 (which I own)(transparent, full sounding and very natural), BAT 150SE's (even more transparent with amazing prec...
Best CD Trans. under 1,500 My money would go to a sony 777 SACD. Those have digital outputs but also a good quality dac. new for 1600ish.
Music trivia anyone? Hey Albert. SRV was far more important than Bowie in making Let's Dance a good album. I used to be a concert security drone and of the performers I've seen Bowie definitely won the God Complex Crown. Here are some trivia questions on the Bowie/SRV:...
Please Help: High-End car audio Buy a used Lexus ! They have awesome stock stereos. I've never heard a really good 'custom' car stereo implementation.
LP playback is lacking - any ideas? The retube on a ph-3 is dirt cheap - $40-50 or so. The tubes live 2000 hours. I would go to someone other than ARC for the tubes. They are (sovtek?) standard 6922's. ARC really overcharges for their tubes these days. On the topic of cartridge load...
Directv booster or amplifier You can buy an non-powered amplifier at radio shack for ten bucks. They sell plug in models that are more powerful.
BAT VK30SE with SS Amp? I tried the vk30Se in my system which was Pass aleph 2's with the aleph P preamp, nordost red dawn & tranparent ref cabling, and virgo speakers. It really didn't work as well for the aleph 2's as the aleph P preamp. It took away a little resol...
Help w/ beginner s room treatment Great posts everyone. You sound like quite a bit more than a beginner to me too. Something I have found to be beneficial is to put plants and trees in the corners of the room. This has high WAF too. Also, if you have a coffee table, try to cover i...
Good Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions"? By the way, my LP's numbers are: 7863-58568-1, 8568-1-R (same as metaphysics).
Good Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions"? My 'Trinity Session' LP is a BMG/RCA. I got it for $4 thirty minutes after buying my first record player (a rega 25). It had just hit the 'new today' bin. A great shopping moment to remember.... I greatly prefer it to the standard 'rca' CD I have....
Good Cowboy Junkies "Trinity Sessions"? I have the trinity session on both vinyl and the RCA cd. The vinyl version is much better. I always thought the rca cd was a great recording, but the vinyl trounces it. I hope it comes out on SACD. It actually is a direct to digital recording. |
