California electrical shortage audio
I wonder if we're going to see a sell off of Pass Labs equipment in California ? In my state with .05 cent / kwH electricity , I noticed my electricity bill went up by $20 a month when my aleph 2's landed. How much is California electricity now ?
Some cable advice for this system
The two best I've heard are Transparent Reference and Quattro-fil.
What causes listener fatique? cure?
I've found a few things that outright bother me:1) Cheap/older CD players have a digital brittleness to them.2) Mass market solid state electronics played through powerful systems. I find that cheap little boomboxes are not as annoying by comparis...
best cool looking exposed tube for 2500
I really liked the looks of my old sonic frontiers sfm-160's. I think they are better looking than the current generation. A little more polished. You can pick those up for 1600-1800. A steal for the sound quality. Very warm and lush.
Audiophile spending
Hey Garfish: I think JA can make that statement because reviewers get equipment so cheap/free. I wish reviewers would keep an online record of things they get for free or the at steep discounts. I think that would add to their existing credibility...
Nordost SPM vs. Quatro Fil
Well guys, my earlier post now has one of the highest ratings of any of my posts. (i.e it's above zero) Thanks ! On the topic of audio, I just rewired my entire system with quattro-fil and spm speaker cables. Bought a valhalla bound guy's entire s...

Vocalists/Musicians Wasting Their Talent
Guitar Players:I think someone who is finally USING his talent again is Eric Clapton. I really like his new albums with his return to the blues. What was that 1980's decade about anyway?!? A great semi-known player is Eddie B. Campbell out of Chic...
tips for Vandersteen 3A sig
I had both the mccormack dna1/revaGold and an arc vt100m2 on the van 3aSigs. I thought the mccormack was a much better match for the 3aSigs. I found the vt100 sounded great, but was a little slower than the mccormack - as you would expect for a tu...
tips for Vandersteen 3A sig
When I had 3aSigs, I found the following made significant differences:1) Using a McCormack DNA amp with them really brought out their way powerful bass & helped alleviate some of the slowness.2) Using biwire speaker cables made a big differenc...
Amps for Virgo : TUBE or SOLID?
For sheer resolution, I am in complete agreement with Arahl. I don't think I've ever heard higher resolution than the pass labs/nordost/virgo combination. I sometimes preferred the 'aliveness' of the arc equipment, and sometimes the clarity of the...
Nordost Red Dawn revII vs SPM
The red dawn is quite excellent, but the SPM is noticeably better in a high resolution system. I noticed an increase in detail almost immediately - and that was just swapping the amp/preamp cable alone. Part of it being worth it or not depends on ...
