Girlfriends and wifes, how do YOU cope?
If your sig other complains, you can always say "Well, I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!" BUT you soon will have guests....
Best Conductor Materials by Frequency
IMO, it only makes sense if you are "tri-amping", otherwise an audio cable carries EVERY frequency 0 to over 20KHz. And even with tri-amping (say with a Linn system), I kinda doubt too many 'philes would have different metal IC's for each band....

Albert, systems sound better with the fake polystyrene nose....

It's spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht, but pronounced "Throatwablermangrove"....
Ultra high resolution
Chris, you picked one of my faves (Deadly Joke Sketch). Thanks.
Great systems in butt-ugly rooms
Just the opposite of the OP, but AlbertPorters room looks GREAT!!!
Ultra high resolution
I love Monty Python, and know of the "Nudge Nudge" sketch, but am unsure of how that fits....
How to explain our obsessions to the uninitiated?
Marco, I am sure you were kidding about the medication part, but yes, I do. Also part of it is the modding of the electronics. Fun to get the soldering iron going. Also, as far as brightness, yes some are, but the trick is not to stare straight on...
Might operating a 50Hz unit at 60Hz affect sound?
I would say it probably be ok as long as the Voltage is correct. Also, here's another consideration. When you get to Argentina, your fuses might be too 'big'. Lets say your amp has a 4 Amp fuse for the US. You will need a 2 Amp fuse for 220V becau...
What happened to the "Vintage" category ?
Good point, gerry. I would also add low-usage to the reasons for...
Cables Are Crazy, what do you think?
I agree with the opinion sometimes offered that if you don't hear a difference with hi-end IC's/Power cords, that maybe your system is not 'resolving' or 'high resolution' enough. Lower-end components add their own colorations that would swamp any...
How to explain our obsessions to the uninitiated?
OK I have a similar 'problem' but in reverse - Audiophiles wouldn't understand my "twist" on the hobby. I like music also, but I'm into the looks of the equipment, collecting gear, and visual 'light shows' with LED's - for example, I have taken se...
Might operating a 50Hz unit at 60Hz affect sound?
What country are you moving to? Most of the rest of the world is 220v/50Hz. Running a 60Hz transformer at 50Hz may run a little warmer, as there is less reactance - therefore more current in the primary. But if your components are voltage-switchab...
How to get the most out of TV audio?
Does your dish tuner have stereo output jacks? Hook those to preamp. Digital out would go to a DAC.
How am I frying all my amps? Oscillating? Help
If you have DC on your preamp output couldn't you measure it with a voltmeter? Seems to me the output of a preamp should measure 0VDC when measuring with a voltmeter at any volume level. If there is DC present, the output caps in the preamp are bad.
