Is it worth expanding into Vinyl???
............maybe.The two are quite different. One very telling fact for me is that I can buy lots of music variety at low cost - clean the records and play and enjoy or play and discard depending on my taste and the condition of the vinyl. One cou...
rega 3-24 verses other similiar priced tables
I have the Exact II cart on my P5. I think of it as quite neutral and musical. If you're currently happy with the Clearaudio you'll likely enjoy it as much or more on the new P3-24 - AND save $ just my 2 cents
rega 3-24 verses other similiar priced tables
a new 3-24 gets you a lot of what used to cost much more money in the P5 - namely the power supply unit. It not only allows on-the-fly switching between 33 and 45, but is much more speed stable. I think the 3 - which I've listened to compared to t...
Rega Elys II cartridge: Is it worth the money??
third vote for the exact, its vital fine line stylus provides good detail, a true to life high end, tight bass, and toe tapping music. It's a cartridge I can live with for as long as it lasts.
Anyone muffel a VPI 16.5
Since I'm 62 and already have a measure of hearing loss I use a pair of shooter's ear muffs - they look like headphones but attenuate noise. I just pop 'em on while cleaning records. You see them, sometimes, on people operating leaf blowers and mo...
Budget phono: crisp, lively, with controlled bass
3rd vote for black cube - SE usually goes under 500 used
What music do you want to play really loud?
1812 Overture with Cannons in anyone's performance. Blew the woofers out of my speakerlab speakers with this one and had to upgrade.................darn
Small NAD 533 upgrade.....Immediate pleasure.
congrats; you're well on your way.I have the Rogue Cronus, too. But I'm running my P5 through it into 1980's ADS speakers. The Vandersteens are in my HT rig downstairs. If you like your present sound you'll be very happy with the P5.Regards
Best reasonable Phono preamp for Marantz TT15SI
second the Lehmann. It's adaptable enough to keep up with any cartridge you may try for the first few years.
Rega P5 or Nottingham Interspace JR ?
I've compared the P3 and the P5 (which I now own). I'm not familiar with the Notingham.IMHO the P5 is a very good entry high end TT. Speed and pitch stability, trackability, reproduction of detail, musicality all are very good. I know there are be...
How to remove an errant label from surface of LP?
your approach sounds like a good one. If that does not work, I'd try lighter fluid to disolve the paper, glue, or "goo be gone" an orange gel similar product.I'd bear in mind that the LP is a dead loss at this point, so try things in their mildest...
Next step up from NAD- PP2
I'd say the phono stage is your weak link. Everything else looks super. What isn't the phono stage accomplishing? My Lehmann Black Cube SE, bought here used, was a very big step up from my receiver's phono stage chip, but not a night and day differ...
Tweaking my new Rega P1: How much is too much?
Second Narrod's comment. With the Shure you have a respectable entry deck and reached the point of diminishing returns. The P3 has one of the best "bargains" in arms. The new PSU means the P3 is one of the most stable of bases. I'd say enjoy the P...
