Religious music for less than devout
Wow! I'm surprised that no ones mentioned Bruce Cockburn. God is in many of his songs. I like "Nothin But a Burning Light" LP. All great songs and well recorded. Check it out. "Cry of a Tiny Babe" is a standout. Joe
What do you think causes the crackle and clicks we hear?
For me, it's my bones! Joe
Analysis Plus Silver Apex Speaker cable
Which cables did you end up listening too? Joe
Interesting Fed Ex encounter...
I had this situation with UPS last December; Our pick up and delivery man came while I was at the shop. He scanned three packages with his hand held gadget. I helped him by carrying out the $1200.00 preamp. Off he went. We use the old "book" syste...
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer
I've collected Mason Williams to a crazy extent, Now someone may say "He didn't release all that much". You'd be right! I had to search far and wide. I called up old college friends of his as well as old folk clubs. His band mates were a good sour...
Decent preamp
arctikdeth, you're right about the Onykos. I owned the P303 way back in the early eighties. It was my first eye opener to a better world of electronics. Onyko reissued this great preamp called the P3000R. I'd give it a serious look. Joe
Whats playing on your system today?
Mason Williams!!!
Great country recording
Put Ian Tyson's "Cowboyography" on your list. He originally released in western Caanada thinking maybe it wouldn't go much further. But it did!give it a listen. Joe
Vacuum tube ! And Warnings
A couple of years ago I bought a PS Audio BK preamp (the latest one) from a seller here on Audiogon. He replaced the stock tubes with two tubes he bought from The Tube Monger. The seller claimed that the preamp sounded MUCH better with the new tub...
MORE Esoteric problems
Hey rickytickytwo, This post does take a positive turn as Esoteric did respond by offering a new service whereby the transport itself is removed in California and sent to Japan reducing the cost of service considerably. I haven't heard from anyone...
Selling a very rare album
If you do list it for sale, make sure that the potential buyer knows it's of poor quality. A hardcore fan would want it anyway. I had a guy send me Gordon lightfoot cassettes years ago. He rated each tape by the SQ. Tapes that I could barely hear,...
Help- audiophile husband just dies
There is another consideration here. What this lady may want is just a few options of what to do with this equipment. She just lost her husband. She may want to simply know what it’s worth and move it out in one fell swoop. I helped a lady who one...
What Possessed Me to Do This?
Like myself, I assume you are 60+ years of age. I just sold my Snell TypeA V5 speaker system, not because it didn't sound good but because the idea of moving it again was daunting. After boxing it up, I felt like a went a few rounds with Hulk Hoga...
Recomend Some Albums Recorded with True Imaging.
Bruce Cockburn recordings are all top notch. Both LP's and CD;s image and sound great. Joe
What's Worth More on the Open Market - Your Records or Your Audio Gear
Interesting question. My collection would fetch a good buck If the full extent of it could be catalogued and advertised. My issue is that I have what must be one of the most unique collections around. I've gone to unusual lengths in the past 50 ye...
