I need some sound advice 01-24-07: John_finkThanks again. I think I've narrowed it down to the Blackbird and the Dynevector 20 H. Any thoughts between these two??Two very nice choices, you really cannot go wrong with either. I would think the Blackbird would be just a tad...
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? 01-23-07: WeezIf it were me, I'd buy a Wyetech Labs Pearl and be done with it.So the Pearl is better than the Opal?Does Wyetech Labs know this?
I need some sound advice I'd have to agree with Dewald here, try a Sumiko Blackbird. It's a very nice, musical cartridge with a high enough output (2.5 mV) that should work well with your ARC SP-16.Good luck,John
What has been your most satisfying component? Stood the test of time? That's pretty scary. When looking at my current system I'm almost ashamed to admit that the only component that has been in my system for over two years is an original Shunyata Hydra. So I guess I can't really say that anythi...
In pursuit of the golden ear. Well you have to take it in stages, you'll need to move up to silver ears first, then golden ears. :)I don't look at it as golden ears so much as simply experience. There is no substitute for experience. Whether listening live, or to many differen...
I need some sound advice Well John, it sounds as if a cartridge change may scratch that itch. What cartridge are you using now? How much are you willing to spend? What do you feel you are missing? Transparency? Musicality?Answering these questions would help us help you.John
Uh Oh, Not another Bi-Wire thread... Wouldn’t it be better to allocate $1000 to better single wire than the same amount to bi-wire? Baroque_lover 01-21-07 Yes, IMHO. I played around with this idea myself for several years, and came to the conclusion that bi-wiring with cheaper cable...
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? Are there any new designs that leapfrog all these top machines?Andrewaj_c@mail.com Only subjectively. In reality, no, there is simply no clear winner. Sorry, if only it were so easy, we would all just put the other companies out of business and al...
BAT to BAT - What's Best? Just out of curiousity Dave_b, have you tried say a Placette passive with a tube amp? Or ar you simply judging the passive's performance with a solid state amp?I ask because system synergy is everything. I'm glad you are happy with your system now...
Where do I make the long run IC or speaker cable? I vote for short speaker cable, long interconnect. As Tpsonic mentions though, you could check with a cable manufacturer, or even an preamp/amp manufacturer for that matter.
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? C'mon Hooper.....just how many audiophiles do you think are named Andrew anyway? What, do you think we are fools? :)John (well, there may be two John's, since it's so common a name)
BAT to BAT - What's Best? 01-18-07: Dave_bNot having a remote or an active linestage is stupid in today's world.I have to second John's response here. Nothing personal Dave_b, but that statement is kind of...well....stupid. Everyone has different tastes and styles, what I ...
Audio Horizon Preamp 01-18-07: DrtI was told that major audio magazines have a policy of requiring a company wanting a product reviewed must have a minimum number of dealers. This clearly makes it difficult for small companies. I always thought so too. The minimum use...
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? That is some list, you probably couldn't go wrong with any of them. I would check out the ARC Ref 3 and the BAT VK-52SE/Rex.
Tube pre-amp pop Heck, if you bought both the amp and the preamp new from a local dealer, he should come to your house and figure out what the problem is for you. Especially if the dealer dropped the amp box while carrying it out. These dealers are supposed to pro... |
