CD Player break in period
I am not here to debate either Cerrot, I'm sure you heard what you heard. I wish you well in your search for affirmation.Cheers,John
ARC Ref 3: Tung-Sol 6550 in power supply?
I have also 'toyed' with the idea of rolling that 6550, though I cannot say that I've done it yet. I've seen this topic come up a couple of times before, and there doesn't seem to be much interest, maybe that's why I haven't gotten around to it. I...
future of 2 channel CD sound
There may be a new high definition audio format on the horizon, but I doubt the software will be sold in stores. I see no future in a high definition silver disc, that already was tried and failed (commercially). A high definition music server, as...
CD Player break in period
I agree with much of what Dodgealum is saying. I do believe in burn in time, as I have heard subtle, but meaningful change occur over time. However, in the case of the ridiculously long burn in times mentioned here, I'm more inclined to believe th...
CD Player break in period
My take would be that I doubt it would be the Tara Labs cables causing this 'sting' on female vocals, more likely the Esoteric. I've owned a couple Esoteric units, and listened to a few more. That seems to be their house sound. Very dynamic, power...
cable lifters, how to maximize benefit?
I agree with Fatparrot. Room humidifier is the best answer for static.
The best digital audio out of coaxial, or optical?
Tubes or SS? Digital or Analog? Silver or Copper? Optical or Coaxial? Toslink or AT&T optical? As with all things in audio, there is no one right answer for all people, just a myriad of different opinions. You could listen to both, form your o...
No More upgrades to ARC LS25 Mk.1?
Well spoken Cytocycle. Many threads here and at AA discussing the differences between 6922 tube vs. 6H30 tube. From what I've read, there is no clear cut winner, only a myriad of opinions.Cheers,John
No More upgrades to ARC LS25 Mk.1?
Well if it's new front and rear panels you're after, I agree with Cytocycle. I was simply under the impression you were looking to improve the performance of your LS25 Mk I, I guess I was mistaken.Cheers,John
No More upgrades to ARC LS25 Mk.1?
Doesn't surprise me. Many manufacturers will upgrade to the current model, however, most will not upgrade an older model to an already discontinued model. They tend to leave that type of work to the modifiers like GNSC.John
Digital to Analog-Converter needed?
Hi Mike, just a point of clarification, a 'cd player' hasn't changed. 20 years ago, a cd player had a transport and DAC built in, just as it does today. The same way an integrated amp from 20 years ago had a preamp and amp built in, just as it doe...
No More upgrades to ARC LS25 Mk.1?
I don't know. I'd recommend that you call ARC at 763-577-9700 and ask Leonard. Might as well get it straight from the horses mouth. Leonard is a wealth of ARC knowledge. If in fact this is true (or even if it isn't true), I would highly recommend c...
Digital to Analog-Converter needed?
All cd players have digital to analog conerters (DAC's) built in, no need to buy one. Seperate DAC's were very popular in the 90's, but not as common today. You would only NEED a DAC if you buy a cd transport, which reads the disc only. A cd playe...
Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily on LP...any good?
It's one of my favorite cd's, and I'd love to have it on vinyl, but I think I'll wait for a 33 1/3 version. I'll be honest, I've bought a few of those classic 45 series, they cost a pretty penny, and the sound is really good. However, IMHO, the st...
How did you get into vinyl?
Good for you- you're smarter than I was.Raylinds No I wasn't. I fell for the "Perfect Sound Forever" crap too. I actually was a pretty early adapter, I guess around 1986. I knew the sound was crisper/leaner than through LP's, but I was happy with...
