Upgrading the 326BEE Don't know which you should replace first, but the c272 is way better in every way than the amp in the 326, as well as the c162 being a huge improvement. They are both sometimes available at quite low prices.
Desk Top Passive Monitor $500 used or less I just set up a pair of Era 4's and they sound great on desk top.
Aerial 10T tweeter I believe the 8 and 10T shared the same woofer and tweeter, but mine are long gone.
Fisher 500T Receiver One just sold on ebay for a little over $200, fully working, average cosmetics. These are nowhere near as collectable or valuable as the Fisher tube receivers.
Aerial 10T tweeter My friend needed to replace tweeter on Aerial 8. Aerial was great, and it was an easy do it yourself fix.
Onkyo 9555 My Onkyo sounded great with Vienna Bach Grands.
CD Player Headphone Jack Thanks Rok2id, Any preference between the two Marantz models?
CD Player Headphone Jack Just plugged the Sennheisers into a friends Onkyo DX-7555 and was pleasantly surprised.
CD Player Headphone Jack No such thing as too inexpensive! I currently have Sennheiser HD 650 in main system with headphone amp, and also Grado SR80. I want to put a CD player in bedroom for headphone only listening, and wanting to keep it simple. Thanks.
Inexpensive Transport Thanks Rrog, I agree, though since I already have the Simaudio from another project, I was hoping there might be a good cheap transport. I had remembered a few years ago when a few cheap DVD players were popular as transports.
Mapleshade boards under speakers The customized screw-in brass footers have been great for my Dali MS4 and now MS5. I use lots of their boards and cones, always to positive effect.
Aerial 7b, Nola Contender, with Ayre AX-7e? I have had Aerial 8, Aerial 6, and currently Aerial 7b. All have liked lots of power. Not familiar with the Ayre.
Marantz 2270 overhaul My local tech, who is great, and has been doing this over 30 years, says he will work on anything but a 70's Marantz. Just thought I'd mention this before you take it apart.
Manufacturer checkups I have two friends, who when they buy used gear, often send it back to manufacturer for inspection, cleaning, calibration, whatever. Makes them feel better, and often not very expensive. Never do it myself.
Audio Research, next upgrade? I found the upgrade from the ARC CD3 MKll to the ARC CD5 very worthwhile. Not familiar with your other gear. |
