Difference between Pass Labs XA160.5 an X600.5? At comparable price points, I agree it's purely personal preference. Despite what's often written, Class A is not preferred by all listeners, as Petrushka points out, and the XA amps are more powerful than their ratings suggest.
Is it worth buying a headphone amp? The Music Hall PH25.2 is a very good tube based amp in your price range.
CD Player under $1k Agree on the Teac PD-H600, which can now be found for under $600 new...
Pass Labs XP10 vs Modwright LS 36.5 for X250.5 I use Rowland Capri with X250.5. The Capri replaced an ARC LS25II and it's a great combo, and a super bargain especially if you still play LP's.
Best cdp under $2,500 ARC CD3 MKII
Is it worth buying a headphone amp? Sell the NAD and buy a Portal Panache; great integrated with great headphone jack, no remote or features, but great sound for the money.
TRANSPARENT CABLE VALUE Also when considering value, it is important to look at selling price used, and how well these prices hold over time, not simply the new price. Transparent cables purchased used hold their value for many years...
TRANSPARENT CABLE VALUE Whereas with my Dali speakers, the Transparent Super MM2 were selected by a wide margin over the Clear Day Double Shotguns by all who listened...and I do think the Clear Day is an excellent value
Do I really need a Dac? I would recommend the Teac PD-H600, which can now be found new for under $600.00
companies that modify equipment...opinions I had no interest in mods until I heard a friend's GNSC modified ARC SP-14.
In what price range do I need to go for a Dac ? If you like your Simaudio CD player you could look at the two higher end Simaudio DAC's.
Best choice for new Dynaudio Excite X12 I like the sound of NAD but would not buy it for reliability.
Do I really need a Dac? I say get a new CD player rather than adding a DAC to such an old player. There are lots of reasonably priced players that I think are way better than my 801ES.
Pass or First Watt Mark at Reno HiFi is always very helpful and great to do business with.
TRANSPARENT CABLE VALUE Transparent makes some great low cost cables too. |
