Pass Labs XP-20 or Audio Research Ref 3?
Agree with Bo1972. I had the X250 for 7 years and liked it very much, but the upgrade to the X250.5 was significant.

The height of the footer might or might not matter, depending on the length of your legs...
Pass Labs XP-20 or Audio Research Ref 3?
Agree it's essentially a matter of preferences/system/room. For some convoluted logic in response to your question: I replaced an ARC LS25ll with a Rowland Capri based initially on Guidocorona's threads stating how he preferred the Capri to the Re...
Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
They do Nonoise. Maple is best for couches, oak for chairs.
Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
My experience is that platforms of the same height, if made of different materials, sound different. Even between 4 inch maple butcher block and 4 inch solid maple.
New tubes or new preamp?
There were two versions of the LS15. If you have the older version (most easily identified as it has a captive power cord) then the cap and power supply upgrade by ARC is a very cost effective improvement.
New tubes or new preamp?

Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
I have extensive experience with two systems on carpet over concrete, and in both, maple stands greatly improved the sound. We tried them in response to Mapleshade's claims, and we agreed.
Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
According to Mapleshade, the worst sound is from carpet on concrete, and that is where the maple stands are most useful. I have a thick hard wood floor, and Pierre said the custom brass spkes were all I would need, and they very much improved the ...

Michigan Maple is the name, they often sell on Audiogon and ebay. They are not an audio company but realized there was an audio market for their products My floors are wood.
Solid Maple vs Butcher Block
I went from Michigan Maple, which is butcher block and which I liked a lot, to solid maple Mapleshade which I liked a lot more. The Mapleshade is more expensive but holds it's value very well.
Sony 9100ES, Oppo 103 105
Agree about the 9000ES, I still have mine on bottom shelf...
Sony 9100ES, Oppo 103 105
Though at this time I am not interested in those other features, if I want blu ray, is there a difference between the 103 and 105 when used for 5.1 channel movies only? Processor is Sunfire TGP-5.
Sony 9100ES, Oppo 103 105
Thanks, Just what I wanted to hear, as the Sony is working great and is so easy to use.
