Transparent Cables - Worth the money?
The reference system I referred to is not mine- it is an acquaintance's. It consists of some very expensive "Stereophile Class A" components - many of which are on the short list of "Best" or "World Class."
Transparent Cables - Worth the money?
I have listened to various cables in a true reference system, and you can definitely appreciate the performance of Transparent cables in bass, treble, mid-range, soundstaging etc etc etc. After hearing I bought them. The neat thing is that if you ...
Room or Speaker what s more important?
Quality components in an optimized room will sound better than world-class components in a bad room.
Transparent Cables - Worth the money?
My guess is that you would get more than satisfactory performance from either the Ultra or the Reference products - and - you cen upgrade at a later date for the difference in retail price!! Not a bad deal! IMHO Transparent has this stuff figured ...
BEST MUSICAL SUBWOOFER, UNDER 1K
Buy a used Vandersteen 2Wq - or get it new for just a little over $1000 - either way, there are NONE more musical.
best musical pre/pro for about 3000.
A used Lexicon MC-1 will set you back about $3000 - 3500. Do not even think about it - just do it - and - buy the two surround speakers - do 7.1 AC3 and sit and enjoy!!
The best speaker you ever heard?
Vandersteen 5s -there are many strengths - no weaknesses.
AC regeneration and power conditioners
I disagree in part. Dedicated lines, and updgrading power cords still help regenerators. These are basically amplifiers that work at one frequency, and they can benefit from dedicated lines, cords etc that increase the flow of AC that they use to ...
Which sub is better for audio
Vandersteen 2Wq for sure ... very musical. Go listen for yourself.
Best sounding preamp under 2K?
A great sounding pre for about $1000 is the Adcom GTP-750.
Active or passive preamps?
If you like analytical, detailed sound then use a passive pre-amp - or - like Wadia suggests, no pre at all! However, if you want "musiclaity" in your system, with a better level of dynamics, you need an active pre-amp that buffers the input and a...
Vandy 5 Owners & Dreamers
Well, I am a V-E-R-Y satisfied Vandy #5 owner. I would like to second everything that "Khrys" said in his follow-up above - the speakers are spectacular. Their best feature, and the one that allows the level of performance that Khrys discusses is ...
PS Audio PP300 works great, but......
I have a BAT VK-50SE and it is definitely too much of a load for a P300. I have purchased a P600 and I can tell you that in my system, it made a huge difference, and the only thing plugged into it is the BAT. I have a P300 that all the digital stu...
Widening my soundstage
Well, it may be that out of phase gives you sound outside your speakers, but what it really does is give you sound centered at each speaker, unfocused, with a hole in the center. So while you can argue it is "wide" let's not pretend it is correct....
Transport for use with Wadia 27ix
Not with the 27ix, but with the Audio Logic 2400 DAC, which also decodes 96K, the Theta David comes in a distant second to my primary CD transport (44K) a CEC TL-1x
