Can one have too many tube components in a system? short answer is yes
Calling out spatial audio m3 sapphire owners!
i have maggie 1.7i's now, in place of my former pair of spatial m3 sapphires they are both dipole radiators but that is where the similarity starts and ends, they could not present the music more differently
Kef LS50s - great like me but need to come up for air
+1  try a nice tube amp with the kefs in a small room like yours you don't need alot of power, shouldn't break the bank otherwise spendors, proacs and harbeths would bring some nice warmth and luxurious tone without excessive detail/stridency
Suggest your most desired MSRP $1,500-$3,000 Stand Mount for a Shootout.
i don’t know if proac and atc have an entry level standmount under 3 grand retail price anymore, if so, they should be included in any comparison trying to cover ’best of breed’

Considering a Raven Audio Blackhawk Integrated for Tannoy Sterlings
@mesch  you have got a couple of terrific amps there, and i would think their sonic flavors are nicely different from each other hope your house construction concludes successfully and you have even more time to listen and enjoy!
Maggie 1.7i vs 1.7 (what was changed??)
@mesch i have always felt maggies need some room around them, and some good distance from the listening position - my own listening (equilateral) triangle has 10-11 ft legs, i have 5 ft of clearance behind the speakern panels to the front wall cu...
Peeking inside a Carver Crimson 275 Tube Amplifier
can o worms is right holy moly
Maggie 1.7i vs 1.7 (what was changed??)
@mesch happy new year! i will be working through the stable over the next little while, just got the speakers yesterday pass int150 and hegel h190 so far (the no-brainer good matches), both are really terrific, if with slightly different palett...
First Watt Sit-3 paired with Klipsch Cornwall lV?
@sns i would concur with what you have found with very high efficiency horn loaded speakers, even the ’sweet’ solid state amps do not sound vaguely like flea watt tube units like 300b single ended amps.... those are much more rolled off, midran...
Primare I35 vs Naim Supernait 3
@celestial__sound well you should borrow or buy one and decide for yourself i am simply reporting what i heard, and i had an i-30 for some years, never went to their newer amps ...and i really don’t care much about ’what the reviewers say’ -- ...
China built tube amps
lack of stateside service and support is a real concern, as ralph points out some china based vendors help solve this by offering free shipping back to location x where they do the servicing, and that can help some some others reach a scale of s...
What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
@ted_denney haha ted well if the purpose is really to help others understand something, if an analogy helps even a few people ’get it’, then it has been worthwhile

@tomic601 What is your plan / gear method to …level match ? and who is “ we “ ? as the comments accumulate, i have not yet seen a reply to jim’s queries above, which are important also, to his second point, i am wondering what is the purpos...
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending?
this is a really good thread to have alive and running on this board should be one going all the time, as many if not most relative newbies come here focusing too much on the equipment, rather than how the equipment interacts with their room
