Very good AES presentation on inter connects and ground loops. Hope you enjoy it and Happy New Year!! 😊
The dangerous world of Reel-to-Reel Tape As I'm getting older I appreciate convenience whenever possible. This is also true regarding audio, where I stream most of my music.. However, I still enjoy listening to my Nakamichi ZX7 from time to time. It produces far more distortion than m...
When to choice XLR over RCA ICs. As I understand it the primary reason for using XLR cables over RCA cables is to prevent a ground loop from occurring. This is especially true when using long runs of audio cable (25 feet or more), which is why XLR cables are standard in professi...
Keep my 1996 bryston 4B or get a new 4B Since you recently sent your 4B back to Bryston for a repair you should be good for another 20 years. If you're happy with your system you can save your money. Or if you feel your system still needs improvement put it into your source. Most imp...
Experiences With Costly Balanced XLR Interconnects Above $3,000 +1 czarivy I agree with the comment about conducting a blind comparison with generic cables vs whatever cable you’re thinking of buying and if you can tell the difference make your purchase. Above all else have fun! 👍
Do people tire of audio forums? I've yet to tire of audio forums. There's usually many knowledgeable people who are helpful to newer enthusiasts who want to learn more about this hobby.
She loves me she loves me not! Sonically, I have always found speakers to be more open sounding with the speaker grills off. If you're concerned about protecting the drivers you can always put the grills back on after a listening session.
Any other Pipe And Slippers Audiophiles out there? No pipe and slippers. How about a mug of pine tree tea and a quilt to stay warm while listening to my favorite music. 😊👍
Help me spend $100,000 on a new system +1 Maxwave See what you have to work with once you're in your new home then put your new system together. And most of all have FUN doing it! 😊👍
Is my amp good enough? While this is a great hobby and these forums can be very helpful, ultimately you should trust your own ears. They’re better than all the subjective opinions you’ll read. 😊
What to expect if I import an amp and preamp from a Japan seller via US eBay For what it's worth, $7000 is a lot of money and you have no recourse if something goes wrong. Even if the equipment gets to you safely, you have no warranty and can't be certain if the components are gray market or clones. If so, the manufactur...
help me identify this amplifier Klimo built great High Fi gear back in the 1980's . Not sure if he's still in business. Very limited production of components. I remember an FM tuner he offered. I think it was called the Erturnax or something like that. Very expensive for the t...
SME tonearms on a japanese market I bought a Jelco 370 H mid 1980's vintage fluid damped tonearm to install on my 1984 SYSTEMDEK IIX. The 370 H is NOS and ran about $300. They're great tone arms for the money.
How long does it take your tube amp to warm up? At least an hour for my Quicksilver Mini Mite mono blocks to reach their best sound. This is with regular use. If they sit for awhile it could be several hours for them to sound their best.
Upgrading cd player +1 piftech. I have owned an Onkyo C 7030 for six years (very light useage) using it as a dedicated transport, and it works well. I paid about $173 including an extended warranty. I also have my late Dad’s 1992 Naim CDi which I also use sparingly.... |
