alternative to speaker stand spikes? If you are cheap like me, try a nickel. If you are a big spender, you can use quarters. You can also paint them and put stick on furniture glides on the bottom which will allow you to slide the speakers slightly should you need to.
tubes or no tubes I agree with all of the above posts. The VTL ST150 is a great sounding amp and is built like a tank as well. It inspires confidence. The only upside to the Bryston is the 20 year warranty. Sonically, the VTL is in a different league.
Is this ludicrous or not? Breath in, Breath out, relax-- smell some roses. Personally I think Six Moon's creator and resident audiophile guru Srajan Ebaen has been ingesting too many Peyote buttons in the Sonoran Desert. For an even better read, I suggest some of the works...
Sonic Frontiers or Pass with Dunlavy 4a I agree with the post mentioning different tubes. I find Amperex Bugle boys to add a little bit of "tubeyness" to the SF preamps, as they are generally very neutral sounding. You wouldn't have to change all of the tubes. I recommend these be place...
Has anyone tried Element Cable PC???? My audiobud just got some and visually they look much more expensive than the cost, very impressive. Sonically, hard to say other than his system has a nice warm tubey quality which means absolutely nothing. Worst case, if you don't like them send...
Review: TAD (TubeAudioDesign) TAD 150 Signature Tube preamp Thanks for the review. Just curious, did you have to float the ground or are you using a 3 prong power cord? Did you upgrade the power cord and have you tried any tube rolling?
crossover design for a sealed MTM I Suggest you post your question at the www.madisound.comdiscussion board. There are many fine people there to offer assistance.
Speaker Wire for a non-anal listener I highly recommend elementcable EC standard cable. This cable looks great and sounds great for the money. Check out the site.
Speakers slipping on speaker stands Out of all these suggestions, I agree with the Blu-tack. This works amazingly well. It is often difficult for me to get the speaker off if it has been sitting on it for a while. Try Fun tack or similiar putty product. Any office supply or drugstor...
Review: TAD (Tube Audio Design) TAD 1000 mono blocks Any comments on the TAD 150 would be appreciated as well.
Speaker cable connectors? What exactly do they do? Actually the best connector is no connector. A direct connection to the crossover wires inside the box is best. Some people actually do this and there is a noticeable difference in clarity. Other than that, maximizing the contact area of the conne...
Tubes for Sonic Frontiers Line 1? Try mixing up different sets of tubes. I have bugle boys in the front, tesla's in the middle and JAN's in the back. I listened for hiss and microphonics with my headphones each time I changed out a set. This combo sounds much warmer and musical th...
The most detailed speaker cable?? The Nordost and kimber 4TC always seemed on the bright side in my system. I am currently using the Analysis Plus silver oval, and I can assure you that they are not even close to being bright. I also have the AP oval nine's, and believe it or not,... |
