Digital Cable Recommendations @maxboy00 @ghdprentice Cardas appears to be a good fit from recommendations and reviews. Also, intrigued by Audience Front Row Digital and Shunyata Sigma V2, but not many comments/reviews of the products!
8-10k budget suggestions please @laaudionut I, too, shared your journey during that time frame. However, I did not like the McIntosh sound during that time; crazy. I gave modern MAC a chance again and was floored by what was presented. The modern MAC sound has changed for the ...
McIntosh preamps I have a C2700 and MC611s. Glorious sound. The C2700 warms things up a bit. There is something to say about MAC synergy amongst components. Another option is Audio Research preamps which I have heard plays well with McIntosh.
8-10k budget suggestions please @laaudionut I think you should give listen to the modern-day B&W diamond series. When auditioning, I compared 802D3 to Paradigm and Kef Reference. The B&Ws were the warmest of all. I did not find the tweeter bright at all. The Paradigms ...
Digital Cable Recommendations Thanks all for the recommendations. I wasn't even aware of the Jorma brand. I think I may be borrowing some cables to audition soon.
8-10k budget suggestions please McIntosh MA9500. Will sing with B&W! It has a crazy good DAC and Phono section. You would only need a streamer for the DAC and you're done! Also has HDMI (ARC) for connection to your TV.
Difference in Using Mono-blocs with Maggie 20.7's @normantaylor I have a pair of MC 611s, and for the first time in many, many years, I find no need to upgrade (I am rarely satisfied with anything!). However, as sunshdw stated, the move to MC 611 will be slightly incremental with better of ever...
Tough amp decision MC462 is a better amp than the MC312. Don't rule out the MA12000. Best of Mac tubes/solid state in a single package. Probably the best value in the Mac lineup!
Interconnect advice needed Cardas Cygnus. A lot of trickle-down technology. If you can stretch your budget, it should be the endgame! I have Mogami's incredible value/performance but not in the league of $1K cables.
question of integrated amplification: PASS LABS INT 250 VS ACCUPHASE E-800 The Luxman nor the Accuphase will not have enough juice to drive that load, especially in that size of room. I just went through this with a Luxman 590AXII in a much smaller space. Not enough current to drive a pair of KEF Reference 1 Metas. The b...
Great Small Room Speakers for $3-5k @yyzsantabarbara +1 I heard a pair of KEF LS 50 Metas in a room larger than the OP's. Jaw-dropping bass for such a small speaker! I had a pair of B&W 802D3s in a very large room, and they did not provide the bass that the KEFs provided in t...
The problem with absorption panels- it kills the fine details @emergingsoul +1 A little anecdote. My local retailer sells megabuck equipment. Over the years, I have auditioned Wilson, Gryphon, Spectral, Rockport, etc. Many systems approach $100K. I have never once been engaged by any of their systems. The...
Luxman 590AX II Break-In @arafiq Thank you! I aim to move to larger speakers when I move into a permanent residence. The Mac is the end game for me. The next project will be power cords, interconnect, and speaker cables.
Luxman 590AX II Break-In EQUIPMENT UPDATE I want to update the members who were interested in what I chose for equipment. I have traded in the Luxman for a pair of McIntosh MC 611 monoblocks and a C2700 tube preamp. During my day of extensive auditioning, I found the McI...
Integrated amplifier for ATC SCM 19v2 I just auditioned these speakers with a Gryphon Diablo 300. The sound was incredible. Soundstage, imaging, and bass to die for. I would do the Diablo before a Luxman integrated 509. The Luxman will not have enough juice to produce robust bass beca... |
