Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
Just get what you want and it looks like the Denon is your choice.Bill Yes, but...I really like my Parasound pair, too!  I'm like a guy who's had a good, faithful but average looking girlfriend for three years...and then I see this sexy beauty w...

jdmccall - If it "wasn't THAT loud", you may be a db-holic...Nah...I try to be careful.  If I can't hear the sound of my own natural speaking voice when the music is playing, I turn it down.  I usually stay in the 90-95dB range on peaks.  Loud bu...
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
The room is 15 x 22...and I do like it loud from time to time.  Back last century, from '85 to '93 to be exact, I had a pair of cornwalls powered by a Luxman MX-100 amp (140 8 Ohm Watts).  Sounded real nice but I was surprised how much power was b...

Also, I can't believe my first post is pointing someone to an amp that I might bid on. Oh well, should save me some money. No fear; not a tube guy! I would suggest a Luxman integrated I would LOVE a Luxman, but they're TDE (too danged expensive)...

Phono stage is not a big issue for me as I seldom spin vinyl and have not bought an LP since 1985.I have read that the dac in the Denon is just so-so, but personally, I haven't heard enough difference in dacs to get worked up about.I have the Deno...
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog?
CD and any digital of higher resolution are objectively superior to vinyl in every way.  But many people seem to like vinyl.  Good for them but I ain't gettin' on that train.
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog?
Whatever floats yer boat.  Personally, I prefer CD and SACD.  I hate noise, so that's probably the main reason.  That said, sure, LP's can sound wonderful.  But I think they have zero advantage, sound-wise, over CD.  It's all in the recording and ...
What In The World Is Going On?
OK...maybe it is "just" the covid.  Awhile back there was some news about Sound United, Onkyo and maybe Pioneer.  Maybe other companies involved, too.  That, coupled with the apparent complete disappearance of Onkyo from the market made me think t...
What In The World Is Going On?
I would think there must be more to it than that. Onkyo has essentially disappeared from the market and Pioneer isn’t too far ahead of them. Marantz, Denon and other brands seem to have little product availability. I would think Covid might affect...
The cost of LP's and CD's - an observation
First CD's I bought in 1984 were $22 each.  I bought 10, plus my first CD player, a Sony CDP-200 for $450.  I was severely price-gouged but was in hog heaven and I didn't care, and I never looked back.  I have zero desire to pay $20-50 for new LP'...
1st Album you Ever Owned?
Dang, wish I could say my first LP was some classic title by a classic artist...but being truthful, I think my first LP purchase was "Snowbird" by Anne Murray in 1970.  I loved the tune and also had myself a nice little crush on Anne.
Hsu CCB-8...What Have I Done?
I liked the sound real well, but not the looks.  They would have been fine in a dedicated theater or music room, but I had them in a family room and they were just too BBB (big, black and boxy).  So I ended up selling them.  I never compared them ...
Dedicated 20 amp circuit - Electrician laughed!
When we built our house, I mentioned to the electrical contractor a separate 20A service for the music room.  I got the same reaction from him you got from your electrician.  Pissed me right off, it did.
Older And Wiser or just Tighter and Deafer?
bloom, I suppose I'll eventually give in to hearing aids.  I'm just not there yet.  I guess I'm still living in denial (not the river in Egypt).newbee, I think we're on the same wavelength.
Older And Wiser or just Tighter and Deafer?
bobheinatz: Enjoy what you enjoy now and try not to have any regrets. That's good advice.  As in most everything, I guess moderation is the key.
