Anybody want to talk about the JBL studio 590? I’ve had mine for over two years and I am very happy with them. Superb sound value. True, the vinyl wrap is a bit on the dull side, and who wants plastic footers? But still, you get cast frame LF drivers, a smooth-sounding horn-loaded compression ...
JBL Studio 590 I bought 590's in Spring of 2019. Delivery was a bit slow and communication was almost non-existant but they did arrive in fine shape. I can't complain, especially in light of the price --free shipping included. I bought them for HT but they en...
Are you still ignoring Iris Dement? I have, I think, four or five ID albums. The first two or three are very good and I enjoy them immensely. "Sing The Delta" is lame, imo. Material-wise, I think she started to run out of gas after the third rekkid. Love her voice and style, tho...
Klipsch Cornwall IV My room is 15 x 22 x 9. C4’s are on short wall, out 36” from front wall and in 33” from side walls when measured from center of grilles. They are toed in to cross axis’s about two feet in front of me. I sit about two-thirds into the room from the...
Klipsch Cornwall IV Ozzy62 & Schw06,I do have my Cornwall IV’s toe’d (towed?) in fairly aggressively. I’d say their axis cross about a foot in front of me. I also raised the front of the speakers about an inch, the idea being to reduce floor reflections. Plus, ...
Klipsch Cornwall IV I have owned a pair since August of last year. I am alternately thrilled and disappointed. They sound great with great recordings and lame with lame recordings. I guess that’s the sign of a revealing loudspeaker. Whether that is a good thing or no...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? Thanks so much for all the interesting thread contributions; very informative! Gonna go find me some Freddie Hubbard on CD!
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? I don't really need the answer to my question. But to me though, it is an interesting question. I think for me, it's mostly the sound. With Jazz and classical, anyway. Pop music? Maybe it's both. For you it may be mostly about the music. An...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? jbhiller:I listen to the Bill Evans Trio, Waltz for Debby, album nearly every week. Sonically, it still blows me away. And it's a 1962 recording I think a pretty good argument could be made that regardless of genre, some of the best, most pre...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? I can put on nearly any jazz album and just relax into listening. It's really the sound that my system produces rather than specific albums/artists/songs, at least at this point, that I'm attracted to. Exactly! So...the sound is the thing. ...
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? Seems as my systems have gotten better, my recordings have gotten worse! Jazz almost always sounds good though. So I listen. But Iove my pop stuff. Geez it can hard to listen to though.
Speaker recommendation $1000 or less you've had in your home JBL Studio 590’s when purchased on sale for.about $1k or so per pair are a good performance value, in my humble opinion.
The Wilt Chamberlain of Audio Gear While I admire those who sustain long, loving relationships with their stereo, I tend to develop a wandering eye. I do keep some things around a good long while but that seems to be the exception to the rule. Only the size of my bank account and...
CD player reliability.... good and bad. I don’t see the point in comparing cdp and tt reliability. CD players, even cheap ones, are sophisticated and relatively high-tech devices. Turntables, particularly manuals, are relatively simple. Most of us could build one in our garage. Sure...
CD player reliability.... good and bad. My longevity champ is my 18 year old Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai. It’s a “universal” DVD player so maybe that doesn’t count:) |
