CD player reliability.... good and bad.
I can’t think of one CD player I’ve owned that failed.  Maybe I’ve just been lucky.  My favorite is my current Denon DCD-1600NE.  It’s built real well...or at least gives that appearance, judging from it’s heft, looks and feel.
Critical subwoofer tip
Miller Carbon and all of you that are "amazed by his knowledge" need to come to my house. My Velodyne subs, like the OP’s, also have four selectable amounts of phase delay. If you can’t hear the differences in 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees with your ...
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
Sometimes, Chinese-made doesn't even seem less expensive.  If I'm not mistaken, Harmon builds some expensive JBL and Revel models there.  I suppose they might be even higher otherwise, though.
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
I would prefer to avoid goods from the PRC, but actually doing that is very difficult if not impossible.  So I don't fret over it.  What a handful of audiophiles do probably won't make a difference, anyway.  Plus, the old saying about cutting one'...
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
I like black and I like silver.  I would love it if everything was available in either one.  As for meters, well, I think they're cool, but I also think they can be  distracting.  I grew up in the 60's and 70's too.  Remember SAE?  Sexy and black!...
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
I like the concept of home-grown audio...but often I succumb to the lower price of Asian-made audio.  But lately, I do try hard to avoid spending serious money with the PRC.  Nothing against the people, but I do not wish to support their oppressiv...
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
I don't know if anyone here watches Andrew Robinson's "Recovering Audiophile" videos or not, but I kind of feel like he does when he states that it's hard to find a/v gear today that isn't quite good (I paraphrase).  Yes, there remain potential is...
HOW MUCH DO NON-AUDIO FACTORS INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIO PURCHASES?
In my "audiophile journey" (puke emoji), I've assembled essentially one-brand systems comprised of products from (in roughly chronological order): Realistic, Pioneer, Luxman, Sony ES, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo, NAD and currently, Denon.  I'm not sayin...
Suggestions for New CD Player
I haven't owned it for very long, but I would still recommend the Denon DCD-1600NE.  It has very impressive build quality for $1199.  The disc tray is fairly substantial and operates smoothly and quietly.  It plays SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, mp3 and A...
JBL 4349 or Klipsch Cornwall IV
I've not heard the JBL's but they certainly look great!I own the Cornwall IV's and I'm very happy with them.  They are a little light below 50Hz but they are oh, so clean and dynamic!  I listen to a wide range of music, too: rock, country, jazz, c...
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
Denon PMA-1600NE arrived double-boxed from Music Direct on 1/15/21.  Fed-Ex tried to deliver it the day before but yours truly was sleeping in and missed it.  I apparently also missed that a signature was required for delivery.  My bad.I've got it...
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
After you've had some time with the Denon, please post back here- I'd be interested in what you think of it. Denon amp should arrive tomorrow.  I'll follow up with impressions.
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
I did the deed.  Yesterday (1/11/21), I ordered a Denon PMA-1600NA from Music Direct.  I don't know if it has "higher quality" Watts or not.  We'll see.  I don't know how biased into class A it is.  In fact, I have not really found any independent...

kfscoll:"You mentioned the DCD-1600NE.  I just received the Denon DCD-A110 SACD player and I'm so impressed with it that it has me thinking about buying the matching integrated (PMA-A110).  In other words, I think your experience with your SAC...
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
I'd sure want to make sure I had full return privileges before going that route.  It was discounted pretty heavily (almost $400), so that would be a good way to try one and at least see if I liked it.  And if not, or if it was a little TOO scratch...
