What I want to see in the next gen of SACD players
I would like to see them drop DVDA, (if it has it), and drop redbook playback, and put the money into output stages
How is your many titles in your digital collection
Yes, but Kana, many audiophiles in this forum have spent upwards of 5K on a redbook player--they don't want to know that *any* format is better in the same way that one can't acknowledge another religion. I live in the US and I buy most of my SACD...
SACD on its way out?
Yes, actually hi-rez DVDA is watermarked so that it can't be copied in hi-rez. Also, with dual disc, it seems as though the producers must choose between hi-rez or video. The new "Donna's" hi-rez dual disc only has 10 minutes of video.
SACD on its way out?
I believe dual disc has actually been the final death-knell for DVDA; I've cringed over and over again as DVDA cheerleaders on another web-site have discovered that the sprinkling of dual disc new releases, (when not delayed), has chosen to use th...
Recommendations discs for SACD/DVD-A trial
BTW, SACD does the best with analog tapes or DSD masters. SACDs from 24/96 PCM sources don't sound as good. Even my friends can tell the difference as the final product is still harsh and has less liquidity.
Recommendations discs for SACD/DVD-A trial
Well I would stick with CDs since you don't like Classical, where SACD format is making inroads, otherwise, DVDA releases are too few and far between to justify a machine.
Coping in an Age of Uncertainty
Coffeey, were you speaking to yourself or us? ; ) Anyway, fine. *If* and only if you like Classical and classic rock and jazz, SACD is a pretty safe bet now. Word on the street is that it has established itself as the prefered audiophile format. I...
Has anyone tried vibrapods with the Sony XA777ES
Inflate it slightly too? Set the feet on it?
Sony SCD XA9000ES vs SCD-1 or XA-777ES
It will be fine if it's better then the XA777ES, (my unit); a good power cord removes that "ice." My feeling now that all is said and done: I should have bought just about *any* 2 and 5 chan SACD player ($1000) and then a good stand-alone CD playe...
Why is Sony Digital sound more like vinyl?
I've not heard the XRCDs, but I've read on audioasylum that they are far superior. I can't believe these recordings are almost 50 years old. One of the great advantages of SACD remasterings of analog is no PCM anywhere. I hope. The only Living Pre...
Why is Sony Digital sound more like vinyl?
Classe *does* offer a 2 channel SACD player, I saw it reviewed months ago. I'm glad they're continuing to do so. I rarely listen to my redbooks anymore, except as background music, such is the superiority of SACD. You should hear the new RCA Livin...
Anyone try the new Musical Fidelity X10 V3?
Does this buffer have an output stage too? For instance, I'd like a better output stage for my player, but mods are impossible. Does this unit enhance, (open up the sound), the way better caps would? And has anyone heard the new Xray CD player? Mr...
Is it worth spending $10k on CD-only player today?
I say no. No matter what the voodoo inside the player, the bottom line is that redbook CD just can't reflect all the advances in recording technology in the last 20 years. Surely anything worth listening to will eventually be released on SACD. I w...
Which 3K CDP: Simaudio Nova, Ayre CX-7 Wadia 302
Which has the beefiest power supply and best output caps? (I like impactful, yet focused bass. I'm looking for a player that can get *all* the pipe organ bass fundamentals, and can handle percussive outbursts while keeping the sound full-bodied.)
Why is Sony Digital sound more like vinyl?
Not giving up the Sony XA777 yet: My audiophile pusher finally talked me into trying a better A/C power cord, (Audioquest nrg2), and low and behold, the sound *is* more beguiling, and more ambience is evident. Interesting. I'm taking the unit to a...
