Manley Chinook with (very) low output MC ZYX?
@soundermn Here is a cheaper solution that sparkos labs with strong specs.  Some say specs don't matter so much with op amps.  I have no idea and will let my ears be the judge. http://www.doukaudio.com/dual-discrete-op-amp-hifi-audio-preamp-operat...

Manley Chinook with (very) low output MC ZYX?
@soundermn Yes, I did do it.  I bought Burr Browns with some really great specs.  I wanted to first try them as opposed to some super custom ones due to expense.  The BBs were about $15 for two. I used dual op amps because that is what I think is ...
The Devil is in the Cartridge Setup (and a good phone pre)...
On the issue of modifying gear...i used to shy shy away from it for many common reasons.  Once I did a couple of more significant DIY builds, I learned so much about manufacturers’ choices.  It’s really rare that they use as good of stuff througho...

@soundermn I agree. And I thank you for chiming in. I have a fairly thick thick skin but the tone and message of folks’ responses more frequently makes me think twice about posting in the first place. I’ve experienced this a lot recently.  Im real...
Where is my digital problem: taste, vinyl v. digital, DAC, realities, etc?
@lancelock ,  Agreed!  It's a very good combination.  It's so hard to find anything wrong with the ART9.  I'd have to setup other carts (likely super expensive) and spend months comparing, which is not necessary as the ART9 is great.  @Mahler,  In...
What's the status on Bluesound's Amazon Alexa Integration?
Thank you What the F!I'm 80% vinyl these days but I do love me some Bluesound streaming.  I think it would be nice to have my echo dot in the room, catching a command and saving me from having to use the clunky Bluesound app.  Ok, it's not that cl...

@ddude003, I love your way with words!  Yes, I'm pouring tube sweetness on tube syrup on tube everything.  Maybe I need to chill out a bit?  But man, I'm hooked on smoothness.  Right now I'm listening to Lou Rawls and Les McCann, Stormy Monday, on...

Yes the subject is about cartridge setup and how important it can be. My mistake and forgetfulness had almost had me going into upgrade land—when all was fine. Phew!

Good question. I was going back through all settings and after using the Feickert I had to reset the VTF. I sloppily set it from my memory of specs.  Then when I fired it up I didn’t take notice of the sound until I had the chance to sit and liste...

A couple other things....What Nora Jones albums are poorly recorded?  I have a personal opinion of quality ranges for each in her portfolio, but I I wouldn't any are poor in general. Thanks for the recommendation on Stylast.  I use the onzo produc...

@teoaudio,  I agree 100%.  And when I built or modded I started to realize the cost of things.  They often seem cheap to an audiophile who's doing a single build. "Why not use Mudorf caps, and try Clarity, Auricaps (cheap but brilliant), etc?"  Yo...

Stevecham, Your question assumes what it seeks to prove:  that I think Manley doesn't know what it's doing.  On the contrary... I love Manley.  I think the Chinook is an amazing piece of gear.  In fact, it's the last piece of gear I'd ever sell.  ...
A Better Bluesound AC Cable?
@lowrider,  I have this exact question myself!  So, I realize that I'm no help here, but I'm hopeful others chime in to help on this excellent question.  Best part of this forum is to benefit from the experience of others where possible.
A trend I've noticed in ads.
Overall, with stuff that I've BOUGHT it's all been great--the products and the communication.  In fact, I've never done a deal here that hasn't worked out.  I've had gear that didn't like--never any fraud or undisclosed issues/damage. Some adds of...
