Are Preamplifier’s Relevant Today or just a Hinderance with Digital Playback ?
Great thread OP!Certainly, I think this is somewhat system dependent. Overall though, I like preamps much.  I have the ability to use my DAC's volume control or run it direct to the preamp.  I prefer using a preamp with it for the same reasons oth...
Definitely lonely to be an audiophile

Klipsch Cornwall IV
I have been listening to the CW IV since December in my room.  They are staying put. To me, they sound like a live production.  The create a large, seamless soundstage--once I dialed in the positioning, which was surprisingly harder to do than I t...
Can anyone recommend a printable label for vacuum tube boxes?
Awesome! Thank you. That was easy! What other problems can you solve? :)
Dream Speakers = landed. Now I need to feed them!
My understanding is technology has changed so much in 25 years that a 25 year old DAC, while it may be decent today, can be bettered by many options in today's market.  I saw a ML 36 DAC for $1500 used somewhere recently.  I'll be honest--I'm not ...

Great.  Keep us posted.  I'm glad to hear you found your speaker soulmate!

JerkFace, I’m not in a good spot to recommend the Carver over another amp specifically.  That’s a decision for you!  Both are well made and offer a lot for the money. I’ve heard them both but not with your speakers in your room. Speaking of which,...

Take a look at this:  https://doge.audio/product/doge-5-padc/   This one is around $1k.And, unless someone can tell you (a) they have looked inside a Doge; (b) they've heard one; and (c) they have dealt with the company--don't listen to statements...

Hi Jerkface! If you are going to hold off on a move until you can do tubes, the advice above about pairing a Carver 275 with Klipsch is good--in my experience. The Crimson 275 sings with Klipsch heritage/vintage stuff. But that would still require...
MHDT Labs Orchid DAC review
Great review!  Enjoy your music!
Best DAC / Budget
@smaarch1,  I too had this problem.  I'm pretty sure I posted a few years back about getting my digital side to be as enjoyable as my analog side.  Like you, I had a tube integrated, but I still didn't feel things sounded compelling enough or full...
A Hidden "Feature" of the Cornwall IV
@rauliruegas ,  what speakers would sound as great at these but would meet your “objective” thresholds?  I’m curious.
Say a fella wants to build an SET monoblock based on the 300B..
The Elekit 300B is wonderful.  But, it's not mono block.
A Hidden "Feature" of the Cornwall IV
@buddy and @jet88,   I have not heard the Cornwall IVs with the Yammy or Lux, but I bet both would be great.  I didn't have great luck pairing my Forte IIIs with Class D--just too lean, clean, and sterile.  I loved them with a Creek integrated.   ...
A Hidden "Feature" of the Cornwall IV
@smatsui ,  Wonderful backstory and review.  Thank you!  PS-- Like me (and Ozzy) Klipsch must be paying you.  Unlike Ozzy and me, your checks must be larger than ours!
