Sending a 110 lb amp to the manufacturer for cleaning/calibration. Good idea? How to ship? Based upon my ongoing headaches with FedEx damaging packages (and then refusing to pay the insurance), I’d strongly recommend avoiding FedEx and shipping via a freight carrier with the amp strapped on it’s own pallet.
MQA is for chumps I have both Tidal and Qobuz, in most cases I prefer the sound of Qobuz. MQA files on my system sound kind of muddy. Once I get my playlists copied over to Qobuz I don't see any reason to keep Tidal.
PS Audio Perfectwave vs Directstream DAC @audiodwebe I’ll also add that I liked bth DACs, especially the DS and have owned a couple of them. If you’re looking for a low cost streaming solution that sounds great you could look at a Bluesound Node 2i paired with a good sounding, low cost D...
Decoupling for Cornwall IV's @michaelc2020 I also heard about these isolation pads through Stereophile, I believe it was for the Volti Razz review. Thank you for the compliment on the system, I'm trying to keep it simple. @jbhiller I was using these with CW IV. I actually str...
Klipsch Cornwall IV @ozzy62 After installing the speaker bars, I immediately noticed the midrange was clearer, voices more 3D. One thing I noticed, however, was that bass seemed like it had diminished significantly--that was until I turned on my subwoofer. I’m not su...
Klipsch Cornwall IV My CW IV are 4’ from the sidewalls, the tweeter is 32" from the back wall and my ears are 9’8’ from the tweeters. I have a slight toe-in as well. I’ve also done a couple tweaks: 1) I’ve placed dynamat on the horns and woofer cage.2) I placed the s...
PS Audio Perfectwave vs Directstream DAC I've owned both, the PerfectWave is nowhere near the level of performance of the DirectStream.
Klipsch Cornwall IV For those with CW IV, how far from the speakers are you sitting? My speakers are 9'8" from my ears.
Klipsch Cornwall IV My Cornwall experience:I went from Harbeth SHL5+ to Klipsch Forte III and ultimately to Cornwall IV. Going from the Harbeth to the Forte III, I immediately appreciated the increase in dynamics and having way more amplifier choices (in my experienc...
Decoupling for Cornwall IV's I'm currently using six of these (three per speaker) and they definitely tightened the bass. They also raise the tweeters by 2".https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MMT68C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1For short money, it wa...
Uptone EtherRegen or Gigafoil v4??? I'm an Eno Ag user as well, it replaced an etherRegen. In the end I found the Eno Ag to sound better in my system and since it's a passive device I was able to eliminate an LPS. The Gigafoil works much like using two FMCs with a short run of fiber...
Looking for my Final Pair!! If noise is a concern, you should check out the Audio Note Cobra integrated. I'm using the Cobra with CW IV speakers, it's dead quiet (no hum and barely any idle hiss). As an added bonus, the amp has an integrated DAC based on the Philips TDA 1543...
Tube Dealers 2021 Another vote for Brent Jessee. Great service, always happy to answer questions.
Jerry Garcia’s McIntosh amp @cal3713 The sound is great, the video is a little dicey at times but the Dead playing Fire on the Mountain at the base of the great pyramids is epic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFYIsvcspmQ
Supratek Owners Thread @gryphongryph Does your Cabernet have a mute switch and, if so, is it active on the 6SN7 circuit? If you answered "yes" to these questions, you can flip the mute switch prior to powering off any equipment and you'll avoid the thumping sound. |
