Gryphon Diable 300 DAC vs. Lumin X1 DAC
@pgaulke60 What's your current amp? If you like the way the X1 sounds, the advantage is that you could use the Nucleus as your Roon Core and the X1 as the Roon endpoint. That will most likely sound better than running Roon Core and endpoint on the...
Gryphon Diable 300 DAC vs. Lumin X1 DAC
It's difficult to directly compare an integrated amp with an optional DAC module and no streaming capabilities against a streamer with DAC capabilities and no amplification. The only functional overlap they have is the DAC. If you’re looking at a ...
Gryphon Diable 300 DAC vs. Lumin X1 DAC
OP: Out of curiosity, how did you narrow down your list to these two devices without having a general idea of their specs?
Klipsch Cornwall IV
I looked at Volti speakers prior to purchasing the CW IV. Greg said he considered the Rival to be more comparable to the CW IV than the Razz. Also, I got an email from Upscale stating that Klipsch will be implementing a 10% price increase to their...
Streaming transport suggestions
@zavato Does your M1 have the ethernet option? I have a Bricasti M1SE with the ethernet option, to my ears I like ethernet connection much better than USB from my Innuos Zenith Mk. 3.
Ignored Offers
Some folks have an overinflated value of their gear coupled with a fragile ego. After the items sits unsold for a while, reality sets and they take what they can get.
Uber expensive repair at United Radio
OP,Thank you for this recommendation, sounds like United Repair is a great option for amp repairs:1) Their estimate was accurate2) They gave you a discount3) They successfully completed the repair4) They took on your work in a time when other repa...
Bricasti M3 vs. Holo Audio May vs. PS Audio DS
@cosmic_charlie.    I failed to mention that I have owned a DirectStream (most recently with the Windom firmware) and I enjoyed it. Having an ethernet connection and being a Roon end point is very convenient (to me anyhow). I currently own a Brica...
Bricasti M3 vs. Holo Audio May vs. PS Audio DS
I have an M1SE with the MDx board and ethernet module (which I prefer over USB). Bright is not a word I'd use to describe the DAC. About 5 years ago, I owned an Auralic Vega--I would describe that DAC as being bright.
Bricasti M3 vs. Holo Audio May vs. PS Audio DS
@hgeifman How does the M3 compare to the M21?  On the M21, do you prefer the R2R section?
eBay / PayPal: Beware - enough is never enough.
eBay used to be a great place to buy and sell items. They are, however, making is very difficult/cost prohibitive for individuals to sell on their platform. Seems like they want to be more like Amazon and less like a global flea market. PayPal Dis...
To horn or not to horn
I happily lived with Harbeth Super HL5+ for close to 6 years, then--on a whim--I picked up a pair of inexpensive Klipsch Forte II on Craigslist. They turned out to be a gateway drug.I liked the horn sound so much that I ended up getting rid of the...
Any audiophiles into motorcycles
For me, people texting while driving has taken a lot of the joy out of riding. These are two of my favorites, the best upgrade I did was the high carbon brake rotors.https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/6162#&gid=1&pid=7https://systems.audi...
Why dont more standalone DACs come with ethernet???
@treebeard1I completely understand, the terminology is definitely confusing and different vendors make it more complex by adding their spin on the terms.Based upon your use case, and the fact that you already have a great DAC/streamer, the Innuos ...
Why dont more standalone DACs come with ethernet???
I've owned the DirectStream with Bridge II, my understanding (at least according to the manual) is that the Bridge II provides UPnP rendering capabilities but still requires a a separate UPnP server.
