High power integrated suggestions please.
the mac is untouchable for the money. the phono section is one of the best at any price.......truly full feature too.
Wharfedale Evolution 30
no you're not. the evo's pair very well with most quality gear....the nad included.
XM or Sirius
either is like discovering music on the radio for the first time....no its not audiophile, but who cares...the comeday stations too are worth the price.
Is my ceiling too low?
you're fine....don't hit your head
"High end" cartridge use on VPI SCOUT??
don't worry about your mac phono stage unless you got off the deepend on a low output mc, which in all honesty is not a good idea. any name brand high output mc or mm will be fine. the mac phono stage old or new is one of the finest.
spendor 3/5 vs era vs avi vs vienna acoustics hayd
if you're not really going to put them on bookshelves, i would say get a fullrange speaker too. otherwise the smallest harbeth or the sterling ls3/5 or the gradient bookshelf or the totem 'one' can't be beat. you can get a castle harlech used with...
bullet-proof, great sounding Intrateds - used
a table radio with a cd player......i assume a vacation would allow for casual listening.
Are the Beatles the reason why modern music exists
the beatles were the first musicians to openly and regularly 'question authority' and given a worldwide media to do it. they also had a great sense of humor which took the edge off. up until that time guthrie, dylan, ochs and others did it through ...
Speaker depreciation: Is there a rule of thumb?
popularity rules hear. buy used and avoid the pain.
Oracle Delphi vs. ??? fill in the blank.
your kenwood is a classic. i would recommend going (used) for a rega p9,thorens td350, linn lp12, roksan xerxes, or any generation of the above mentioned oracle(or a nice vintage alexandra or paris-which are way under your budget). in other words ...
wave a magic wand and poof...the stereo disappears
mrtennis- your thoughts in regard to enjoying music are absolutely correct. the need for an 'upgrade' in a stereo is often the direct result of a 'downgrade' in other areas of one's life. i love hi fi gear and hate the term 'high end'......but gea...
Denon DL-103 for Thorens TD-135 turntable/tonearm?
yes it will.....as long as your pre amp or phono pre can accomodate mc
cello music
pick up the cd Appaloosa on critics choice. a classic acoustic rock band with guitar, bass, violin and cello. produced by al kooper, it was way ahead of its time. great songs too.
Proac 3.8's vs Spendor SP100's
the sp100 is a great speaker, but the proac 3.8 lacks nothing. balanced, dynamic(when there are dynamics), and reasonably deep bass. it also fares well with tubes or ss, where the harbeth and spendor do perform better with ss.
TRELJA almost In New York, 2006
china's build quality is not an issue...its the the world's largest music and copyright 'pirate'. supporting an audio industry which harbours this conduct to the tune of billions of dollars is not a good thing.
