Paradisea Dac
On the Paradisea - I agree it is very responsive to tube changes. I like the WE 396 as it rounds out the sound in a nice way. I think I prefer the Bendix tube (can't recall the number) for a bit more resolution and detail though. Thanks for the ad...
Paradisea Dac
In response to 4est's impressions; I auditioned a Paradisea + against the latest Benchmark DAC1 USB pretty extensively in my system. I ended up keeping the Paradisea+ because it sounded more natural and I could listen at length with no fatigue. I ...
Fans Of Female Singers Check Out Terra Naomi
Having now listened to the CD many times over I can confirm that it certainly is targeting a pop audience, rather than what you might expect from the videos on YouTube. This is a disappointment for me as her strengths are in her vocals and songwri...
In your opinion, what is Hi, Medium and Low end?
Dcstep - I've referred over to HeadFi on occasion, but, as you know, discussion there is of all things headphone. Though I appreciate headphones, and related amplification, for what it can offer, I am not a fan of listening that way unless I have ...
Ear protection for concerts
I've seen the Cowboy Junkies a couple of times. Not likely they'll require the protection you are anticipating needing. I know what you fear though. I once saw Beck, who's music I enjoy. That concert was amplified so loud I could barely understand...
In your opinion, what is Hi, Medium and Low end?
Here, here Albert! The young folks represent any hope of continuing this hobby (and pretty much anything else) with some kind of integrity, and in turn creating higher expectations from the industry (hifi and recording). I ran into a friend recent...

This is not the place to be posting that kind of fluff. Go to the thread: "Hair Dryers. What does the Typical Audiophile Use?" where your contributions will be given the attention and respect they deserve.
flac, wave, mp4, iPod files????
Jax2 are you telling me to put the wave, flac files in the photo section as opposed to the music section? No. I'm telling you my iPod is an older version (I think it's a 4th Generation or perhaps 3rd) called iPod Photo. I put the WAV files in the ...
flac, wave, mp4, iPod files????
I don't know about the newer iPods, but I rip WAV files and transfer them directly to my 60gb iPod Photo without a hiccup. I've also used Apple Lossless files as well, no problem. Again, don't know much about the iTouch. Why not just try it?
In your opinion, what is Hi, Medium and Low end?
I had no idea that there are so many audio people with knowledge that will take the time to help a novice.I thank you all again You will dizzy yourself with the vast number of opinions here. Ask what may occur as a very simple question and you can...

As a 24 year old I may be a little late coming to this hobbyI started in this hobby right around that age too...it's certainly not late. Now I'm twice your age and have over 24 years into it. I've definitely settled into certain preferences and ha...
Wavelength Cosecant USB v3 vs Benchmark USB DAC1
Hi Jax, it's a difficult thing: does the Benchmark sound as you described it because it is a very analycal and honest piece of hardware or does the Wavelength make music more palatable by softening the transients somewhat? I think the question is:...
Wavelength Cosecant USB v3 vs Benchmark USB DAC1
I am not a fan of the Benchmark in its current form, nor its old one. I've tried both extensively an could not warm up to either one. On the plus side I found them tremendously detailed and neutral. On the (big) minus side they occurred to me as h...
good horns less than $3000
How would the Khorns sound comparing to Omega speakers? A world apart. Omega's are single driver speakers in small-volume enclosure. They will not have the range, nor the lightening fast dynamics that a Khorn will. The only possible advantage they...
good horns less than $3000
I'd second the Khorns, warnings about shipping, and do go for vintage 70's 80's versions rather than new. A local pair would be best. LaScalas will give you the same midrange and not nearly the bass (assuming you have two corners to put the Khorns...
