Best software to convert FLAC to Apple lossless?
What is the website for MAX?Got Google?!?!?
Best software to convert FLAC to Apple lossless?
I use MAX as well, with "Full Paranoia" on-always (CD Paranoia error correction). I agree though; it is not the most intuitive interface.
What is a decent first portable player ?
If you want a portable rig that is going to be on par with your own home rig, you are looking at a bigger investment than $250 for an iPod, IMO, at least if you are coming at it with perfectionist expectations. The big drawback in portable devices...
Yet another Mac music Question
MAXX software is freeware and is an excellent converter for Macs, and also a very good ripping software using "CD Paranoia" error correction. You can do batch conversions using MAXX targeting a specific HD to put the resulting conversions. You can...
Real Music vs Audiophile Mumbo Jumbo
I walked out on the last three rock concerts I went to. And I like all three artists. Three strikes - I'm done. I enjoy all of those artists far more on my home system then at either concert...by far and away...no contest. The concert acoustics we...
Is there a qulaity DAC that has USB and coaxial.
Excellent advice above. I'd add that more recent USB models that take advantage of current USB>DAC technology are a significant step above previous implementations of USB. In the case of the later the USB would sound markedly inferior to the di...
My Final Choices For New Amp - Need Your Help
I had three versions of the predecessor of the 17.5 and would certainly concur that those speakers sounded best with at least 35wpc. Every time I'd try with less (several attempts) they were quite limited in what they could do. That said, sorry, I...
confused on audio file formats
Well, now I'm confused! Way too many confusing ways to skin a cat.It seems to me there would be a nice profit for someone (or company) who comes out with a simple one way solution to storing and accessing music, beit 16 or 24 bit.For now , I have ...
confused on audio file formats
4est - As I said on the other thread, I uses MAXX to rip and Squeezeserver to catalogue and play. I started out many years ago using iTunes and still store most of my library in iTunes. I don't use iTunes to manage FLAC files. I did not suggest th...
confused on audio file formats
Agreed about FLAC...unless you want to use iTunes to organize your music. If so, it will not handle FLAC files. If you are using iTunes I'd suggest AIFF. 24/192 represents a sampling rate and not a file format. In this case it represents a very hi...
"American Sound" Speakers
I don't know about "American Sound" or rather, what that might be, but I can think of a few really great American speaker designers. P.W. Klipsch was already mentioned. Jim Thiel. Richard Vandersteen. A few comparatively young bucks: Lou Hinkley (...
Modwright KWA 150
Srajan Ebaen has had both and I think may compare them in a few paragraphs of his reviews. here's the latest of those. I am shooting a KWA100SE for Dan this week and will get to take a listen if I have time. If I do I'll make a comment here on my ...
If upgrades were no longer possible would you be
Yep. More than anything else I'd like to improve the listening room. The rest of the system is great! No need for changes, I'd be very happy to keep it as-is. I would not be satisfied leaving the room as it is however.
Confused With Options To Obtain BestQuality iTunes
Tpy - I'm not familiar with AyreWave. If it is a media player then you will be bypassing both iTunes AND Squeezeserver I imagine. If it uses your iTunes library then you'd just point it at the folder and continue using iTunes to catalogue your mus...
Modwright KWA 150
Good advice from Dodgealum there. Amp+Speaker is definitely a really critical link.
