New Air Suspension Footers for VPI TNT
The stock HRX footers have been the leaky inflatables. They require reflation every several months. Perhaps VPI will make the sealed ball standard equipment going forward? If the sealed ball configuration offers same or better performance (vibrati...
New Air Suspension Footers for VPI TNT
How do they perform? I heard a rumor that they don't do as good an isolation job as the reflatables. Would you refute this?
Any feedback on the Graham Phantom
Not having been able to procure a Lift2, I am nevertheless pleased to report success using the original Expressimo Lift as an arm raiser for the Phantom, installed behind the pivot and oriented to push down on the VTF knob. (Perhaps the Lift2 I or...
sub s 2 Sunfire Juniors, or 1 Sunfire True sub.
I would get the Sunfire True Sub. I believe it will go lower than the Junior. Two Juniors would give you plenty of midbass volume but might still be a little short in the bottom octave. The True Sub would handle most of the bottom octave and would...
Can we list the better labels? Chesky? Telarc?
Some of the small, boutique labels are good, too, like Sundazed Music, Four Men with Beards, First Impression, and Groove Note.
Best Upgrade you had?
Early upgrades had a bigger impact; I've been working at diminishing returns in recent years. Probably my best was in 1996, replacing Rectilinear IIIs (bought in 1969) with Thiel 3.6s. The sound improvement was quite noticable. (Heh, heh, heh) Yup.
Any feedback on the Graham Phantom
I would think a completely magnetic bearing would have its own resonance challenges since there would be no solid support.I think Graham explains neutral balance on his website as a benefit from having the arm's center of mass at the pivot, rather...
What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE???
Art, CAL is gone. The following thread tells part of the story: http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1078262752&openusid&zzJameswei&4&5#Jameswei
Any feedback on the Graham Phantom
I installed it a few weeks ago in early February. I placed my order in August, before they were unveiled in October.I replaced a Graham 2.2. In comparison, on acoustic jazz the Phantom had more air around the instruments, a more precise midrange, ...
Soprano's Stereo & Music???
I believe Furio has gone back to Italy. Tony has a contract out on him, but he apparently can't be found.
Who can help me with a ghost in my system
The Mac has both balanced and unbalanced inputs. I assume you are running balanced interconnects. Have you tried switching to unbalanced RCAs between the Mac and the 9500? The reason I ask is that I wonder if you are observing a fault in the Mac, ...
Subwoofer "Thumping"
You may also be suffering from acoustic feedback, i.e., the sub is causing the turntable to vibrate, which in turn is picked up by the cartridge, amplified, and played back through the sub for even more vibration. You can test this by pressing a f...
Sunfire, Paradigm or Velodyne
I'm using Sunfire subs because I was captivated by Bob Carver's innovative technology. They seem to work well with my systems (I have five of them in various rooms.) Another brand that looks a lot like Sunfire and may be comparably acceptable for ...
It's a Soul Thang
A lot of what used to be "soul" was Motown music. I have a boxed set that is great -- Hitsville USA: The Motown Singles Collection 1959-1971. If you don't want the earlier stuff, just looking through the song list on Amazon might provide some new ...
CDP-Front load with Top qualities
You might want to consider adding the Mark Levinson 390s and the Meridian "G" Series CDP to your list.
